Xiao Yu

Xiao Yu is not a single canonical identity. It is a familiar form of “Yu” used first for Huang Yu, Lu Chen's associate, and later by Emperor Mo Tianxue for his daughter Mo Yu. The shared nickname should not be used to merge the two women. (Chapters 47, 344, 353)

Biography

Huang Yu in Tianxuan

Huang Yu is addressed as Xiao Yu by childhood acquaintances while visiting Lu Chen. She studies alongside Bai Xun, is courted through his pursuit of the Ink Daylily Canvas, and participates in the early Tianxuan circle around Zhang Xuan. (Chapters 47–207)

Mo Yu in Tianwu

Mo Tianxue later calls his daughter Mo Yu “Xiao Yu” while urging her to maintain good relations with Zhang Xuan's “Liu laoshi” identity. His questions about her Viridescent Eagle and familiarity with the teacher clearly refer to Mo Yu, not Huang Yu. (Chapters 344, 353)

Appearance and personality

Because Xiao Yu is a shared nickname, it has no independent appearance or personality. Huang Yu is socially connected to Lu Chen and pursued by suitors, while Mo Yu's traits and development belong to her separate canonical article. (Chapters 47–207, 344–353)

Abilities and cultivation

The nickname has no abilities of its own. The cited early passages do not establish a consolidated cultivation profile for Huang Yu, and Mo Yu's beast-taming and cultivation should be attributed to Mo Yu, not to a separate “Xiao Yu.” (Chapters 47–207, 344–353)
