Specter Cage

A Specter Cage is a portable containment system that projects a barrier around a captive or transport space. It is used both to move Specters and to conceal a passenger's route to sensitive facilities.

History

Capture and transport

The Spartans first use a large cage to surround Nick's home, extending its spherical barrier below ground so that escape through the sewers remains blocked. Nick breaks the machinery during his counterattack, but later relies on the same category of equipment when Dark Dream relocates Specters and when Aegis transports him in his Specter identity. Portable cube-like versions can be deployed around a target, while larger cages accommodate powerful or physically large Specters. A cage supplements rather than replaces suppression and monitoring. Resistance secrecy

Nick later uses cages to carry trusted recruits to the hidden underground city without revealing its location. Aria Light enters voluntarily after accepting the mission, and Samar Melfion is transported under the same secrecy protocol. This use turns containment technology into controlled sensory isolation: the passenger reaches the base without learning the route until Nick judges that knowledge safe. (Chapters 788 and 793–797)

Abilities and properties

• The cage generates a closed barrier whose documented large-scale form is spherical and extends underground as well as above it. (Chapters 266–267)
• Mobile models can be summoned or unfolded for transport; they vary enough in size to contain humanlike passengers, clouds of mist, and large Specters. (Chapters 391, 694–695, 749, and 788)
• A contained Specter cannot be placed inside a Space Bag even while caged, forcing physical transport. (Chapter 695)
