Manela is a Veteran Zephyx Extractor from Kugelblitz whom Wyntor hires to train Nick in throwing spears and field movement. Biography

Taking responsibility for an unformed fighter

Manela first appears after infiltrating Dark Dream so completely that its guards notice her only when she chooses to reveal herself. Wyntor has hired her to turn Nick's expensive throwing spears into a usable combat system, but she initially reacts with disgust to his inflated title of Chief Zephyx Extractor and doubts whether such a young Newbie merits the investment. She accepts the paid assignment, studies his willingness to follow correction, and concludes that he is malleable and driven, while warning Wyntor that Nick's idealism resembles the hopeless struggles that often kill her colleagues. Her severity is joined to a grounded Outer-City background rather than Inner-City entitlement. Manela's parents raise and slaughter the chickens Nick eats, and his sincere praise briefly softens her manner before training begins. She then demands respect for the craftsmanship of his spears and makes him carry the entire set, establishing that tools carry obligations as well as advantages. Manela does not return to the foreground after Nick's formal lessons, but her methods continue shaping his development. He uses silent landing while hunting Cycle's sniper, keeps training at the ruined ground she established, and later attributes his unusually fast advancement to forcing breakthroughs through extreme exertion. Even centuries afterward, he recognizes the same principle when the Champion's light helps Extractors cross bottlenecks with less stored Zephyx. The later corpus does not establish whether Manela remained at Kugelblitz, resumed leadership, formed another relationship, advanced beyond Veteran, or continued teaching.
