Biography

Discovering Kaeul

Ha Junsoo is an exacting producer who has spent roughly twenty years pursuing a performance capable of fully captivating an audience. While reviewing rehearsal footage, he notices Kaeul in the background and repeatedly rewinds the recording, recognizing an emotional pull that ordinary beauty cannot explain. He personally invites her to the final declaration audition despite the compressed schedule, then refuses Wei Yan's attempt to press him for special access. His professional hunger therefore gives Kaeul an opportunity outside the normal first-audition route while keeping the decision under his own control. (Chapters 19–20, 28)

Defending the Declaration

At the audition, Kaeul's performance fulfills Ha Junsoo's long-frustrated ideal so completely that he stops analyzing and becomes absorbed. When Oh Minsung heavily favors Gong Juhee, Ha Junsoo demands a direct comparison, removes the official from the judging table, and names Kaeul the main declarer. His confidence then exceeds procedural restraint: enchanted by her proposed solo performance, he entertains abandoning the supporting roles despite contracts and plans. The resulting entrance declaration vindicates his artistic judgment as a performance, while also showing how Kaeul's emotional immersion can compromise even his experienced professional detachment. Appearance and personality

Ha Junsoo has a messy beard and a stubborn expression. He is a severe perfectionist who drives exhausted staff back to work, speaks bluntly to powerful people, and values the quality of a performance over hierarchy or institutional politeness. His standards make him unusually perceptive as a producer, but his excitement over exceptional talent can turn into tunnel vision and disregard for established procedure. (Chapters 19, 28–31)

Powers and abilities

Ha Junsoo is not shown using supernatural powers. His principal capability is production judgment developed over about two decades of directing concerts and major ceremonies. He notices Kaeul's presence in poor-quality background footage, distinguishes her emotional expression from surface appearance, and uses direct comparison during the audition to expose the large performance gap between her and Gong Juhee. As overall producer, he also has the practical authority to dismiss a judge and change the selection process. (Chapters 19–20, 29–30)

His judgment is powerful but not immune to influence. Kaeul's gold-dragon immersion is so compelling that Ha Junsoo forgets to analyze the performance and later supports a one-person declaration despite contractual and staging objections. The chapters establish the effect on him, but do not show that he understands its supernatural origin. (Chapters 30–31)
