Demon Sealing Jade

The Demon Sealing Jade is a cracked ancient jade tied to the succession, memories, and duties of the League of Demon Sealers. It recognizes Meng Hao after his breakthrough to the thirteenth level of Qi Condensation and becomes a guide to the Demon Sealing legacy.

History

Reliance Sect succession

Patriarch Reliance had been charged with passing the jade to a suitable successor. Meng Hao's unprecedented thirteenth level of Qi Condensation satisfies the condition for taking it, despite Patriarch Reliance's attempts to prevent that outcome. Meng Hao leaves the Reliance Sect with the jade in his custody. (Chapters 86–89 and 94–95)

Legacy of the Demon Sealers

The jade reacts to demonic places and transmits inherited knowledge. In the ancient valley, it leads Meng Hao into an encounter with a prior generation's legacy and reveals that every generation of Demon Sealers creates a new Hex; that predecessor mastered the Seventh Hex and created the Eighth. (Chapters 96 and 100–102)

Recognition of ancient enemies

As Meng Hao's role as the Ninth Generation Demon Sealer matures, the jade continues to react to beings and forces bound up with that legacy. In the Ruins of Immortality it identifies a Lower Realms rebel as an enemy of Demon Sealers and conveys the accumulated hostility of the League. (Chapters 1023–1025)
