Yi Fazi's Dao Protector

Yi Fazi's Dao Protector is the unnamed old Spiritstar Realm expert who accompanies Yi Fazi into the Ninth Mountain and Sea and covertly shapes his trial by fire.

Biography

Designing Yi Fazi’s trial

The protector watches Meng Hao, Patriarch Reliance, and their companions before Yi Fazi begins hunting Li Ling’er. Unlike his arrogant charge, he recognizes that Meng Hao is a primordial-style true Immortal and senses frightening power in Patriarch Reliance. His warnings show knowledge of the former Paragon Immortal Realm and the Spiritstar Realm’s historical subordination to it. (Chapter 1019)

His role is not limited to defense. He uses cloaking magic to conceal Li Ling’er’s distress and presents the hunt as Yi Fazi’s baptism, while privately pursuing another scheme: Li Ling’er’s death would sow conflict between the Zheng Clan and Meng Hao. When Patriarch Reliance and the others see through the concealment, the protector follows into the Ruins of Immortality because he cannot allow Yi Fazi to die. (Chapters 1020–1021)

Intervention and execution

When Meng Hao is about to land a decisive attack, the old man calls for him to stop. Patriarch Reliance intercepts him in exchange for a promised period of freedom. The protector summons a huge eyeless, tadpole-like creature with a gaping mouth, but becomes frightened by beams of light radiating from Patriarch Reliance and cannot pass him. (Chapters 1022–1023)

Yi Fazi’s exposed true form triggers the Mountain and Sea Realm’s ancient command to slaughter rebel outsiders. The protector understands the danger immediately, curses the Zheng Clan’s recklessness, abandons Yi Fazi, and burns blood and longevity to flee aboard his ship. Paragon Sea Dream sends a hair-thin illusory thread through the Ruins, decapitating him and turning his head and body to ash. (Chapter 1024)

Appearance and personality

He is an old man who initially appears calm and perceptive. He is far less arrogant than Yi Fazi and correctly evaluates threats his charge dismisses. That caution coexists with manipulation: he engineers danger around Li Ling’er for political consequences. When Yi Fazi exposes their outsider identity, self-preservation overrides his protective assignment and he flees alone.

Abilities and cultivation

Dao Protector cultivation

The old man’s exact Essence count is not stated, but he is strong enough to serve as protector to a high-status Spiritstar heir and to draw the attention of Ninth Mountain Dao Realm experts. His power remains far below a Paragon’s: Sea Dream kills him with one distant thread before he can perceive the attack fully.

Cloaking and spatial isolation

He deploys a Daoist concealment that blocks Li Ling’er’s distress signal and makes nearby people unable to see her pursuit. Patriarch Reliance, the parrot, and other unusual beings pierce the effect, exposing a limitation against ancient or exceptional perception.

Eyeless devouring manifestation

Against Patriarch Reliance, he summons an enormous black creature resembling an eyeless tadpole whose body is dominated by a gaping mouth. It lunges as if to swallow the turtle. The exchange does not establish its full effect because the protector becomes occupied with avoiding the mysterious beams around Patriarch Reliance.

Blood-and-longevity escape

His ship can merge into the void. To accelerate it, the protector spits blood and burns longevity, producing an emergency burst of speed. The method nearly removes him from the Realm, but Sea Dream’s thread crosses the distance and kills him before the merger completes.
