Xie Jie

Xie Jie is a refined Black Sieve Sect Conclave disciple who escorts recruited cultivators into the sect's Blessed Land and joins Han Bei's secret attempt to recover the Han Clan's time-refining legacy.

Biography

Escort into the Blessed Land

Xie Jie receives private orders from three Core Formation elders to watch Meng Hao. From a violet Feng Shui compass, he guides the recruited rogue cultivators through the Heaven Forged Furnace and explains that the route is a subsidiary path between mountains. His courteous invitation for Meng Hao to sit near the senior cultivators is deliberately insincere: by drawing public attention to an otherwise obscure early Foundation Establishment cultivator, he hopes other recruits will probe Meng Hao for him. This establishes Xie's habitual method—maintaining a pleasant public manner while arranging for someone else to expose the danger. (Chapters 145–147)

Han Clan expedition

Xie later arrives at Han Bei's hidden rendezvous, reveals her identity despite her veil, and subtly supports the Li Woman's challenge to Meng Hao. The test backfires when Meng Hao kills her immediately. Xie becomes markedly more cautious, but continues with the expedition because Han Bei needs three cultivators and three bloodline strands to activate the ancestor statue. At the lightning cauldron he produces a test beast, uses a sect-issued Green Cloaking Pill, and shelters beneath a three-headed, six-armed wooden statue while crossing. He secures one ancient jade piece, but the deaths of Xu Youdao and another participant leave Meng Hao as the only viable replacement. (Chapters 155–162)

Betrayal and death

Xie trusts Han Bei because they grew up together, had been a couple, and were expected to become formally united after the mission. He therefore pours his cultivation and spiritual sense into her bloodline strand when she says the ancestor statue needs more power. Han Bei redirects the awakened statue's finger toward him. He tries to discard the strand and retreat, but Meng Hao's lightning mist stops him; the lightest touch from the statue destroys his body and Dao Pillar. Han Bei takes his bag and explains that he treated her horribly from childhood and later sought further control over her. His death is therefore the planned culmination of a grievance he never recognized, not an accidental casualty of the treasure hunt. (Chapter 163)

Appearance and personality

Xie is a handsome young man in a violet gown, typically described with a refined bearing and a slight smile. The presentation is strategic. He uses politeness to disguise surveillance, exposes Han Bei's secret identity with plausible deniability, and encourages others to test Meng Hao while he observes safely. He is perceptive enough to revise his opinion after seeing Meng Hao's strength, but not perceptive enough to understand Han Bei's hatred. His warmth toward her in the final ritual exposes the one relationship in which his usual suspicion fails.

Abilities and cultivation

Foundation Establishment Chosen

As a Conclave disciple, Xie stands above ordinary Black Sieve Sect disciples and can contribute both cultivation-base power and spiritual sense to the Han ancestor ritual. His standing gives him access to sect treasures and sensitive operations, but the corpus does not establish a named personal combat art. His final death also shows the limit of his cultivation: once the bloodline-controlled ancestor statue targets him and Meng Hao blocks retreat, neither his Dao Pillar nor his speed can resist its power. Travel and lightning-crossing equipment

Xie pilots a violet Feng Shui compass through the Heaven Forged Furnace route. At the cauldron, Green Cloaking Pills suppress the party's presence from the lightning for a limited interval rather than making them invulnerable. His three-headed, six-armed wooden statue actively repels lightning and creates a safer crossing, but even the expedition's protective treasures can fail when the cauldron intensifies. These tools demonstrate preparation and sect resources rather than innate immunity to lightning. (Chapters 145 and 159–161)

Manipulation and reconnaissance

His most consistent skill is indirect information gathering. He creates social pressure around Meng Hao, lets the Li Woman attack first, uses a beast to test the lightning, and changes his behavior when new evidence appears. This method reduces his immediate risk but depends on accurately reading allies. Han Bei exploits that blind spot by making him a willing power source for the ritual that kills him. (Chapters 145–156 and 162–163)

Relationships

• Han Bei: Childhood companion and intended partner. He assumes their shared history guarantees loyalty; she views him as an abuser and designs the ritual to kill him.
• Meng Hao: Surveillance target whom Xie repeatedly tests. Meng Hao sees through the expedition's schemes and knowingly helps Han Bei prevent Xie's escape.
• Li Woman: Xie encourages her hostility so her attack can reveal Meng Hao's capabilities without placing him at direct risk.
• Black Sieve Sect elders: They entrust him with oversight of recruited cultivators and with monitoring Meng Hao, indicating his Conclave status and institutional usefulness.
