Wu Hai

Wu Hai is the Crow Scout recruiter who brings Meng Hao into the tribe as a vassal and becomes one of his first local friends.

Biography

Recruiting a mysterious vassal

Wu Hai meets Meng Hao at a five-tribe recruiting station where every faction competes for unaffiliated cultivators. He explains the Crow Scout probation system, partial Spirit Crystal payment, and access to totem cultivation, but his modest pitch is drowned out by rival boasts. When Meng Hao quietly supplies him with more extravagant claims, Wu Hai repeats them enthusiastically and wins the recruit. He then completes the formalities and brings Meng Hao into the tribe. Wu Hai visits often, first out of responsibility and then friendship. He shares practical knowledge about the five Crow Divinity tribes and asks Meng Hao for advice on improving his recruiting. His willingness to learn replaces his earlier insecurity with a more confident style, though much of that confidence remains comic imitation of Meng Hao’s rhetoric. (Chapters 395–397)

Hairy Five and erased memories

Wu Hai sees Meng Hao’s neo-demons unsettle the region and attends Hairy Five’s duel, giving him early evidence that the unassuming vassal is far beyond an ordinary recruit. Later, when a Crow Scout group is endangered, he recognizes Hairy Five and reacts with relief before Meng Hao reveals enough strength to save them. Wu Hai accepts the demand for secrecy rather than exploiting the discovery. (Chapters 401, 412, and 414)

During the Ancestor Rite transformation, the memories that Wu Hai and the five tribes hold of Meng Hao are erased. His friendship and recruitment work still shaped Meng Hao’s place among the Crow Divinity tribes, but Wu Hai no longer consciously retains that history when last seen. (Chapter 424)

Appearance and personality

Wu Hai is especially sensitive about taller men and initially lacks the showmanship of rival recruiters. He is friendly, earnest, and easily excited rather than calculating. He learns quickly when coached, remains loyal once Meng Hao joins the tribe, and responds to Meng Hao’s hidden power with trust instead of envy.

Wu Hai understands the Crow Scout Tribe’s vassal terms, probation, payments, and access to totem methods. He can process a new vassal’s entry and orient that person within the five-tribe structure. These are administrative skills rather than battle techniques, but they directly enable Meng Hao’s integration into the tribe. (Chapters 391–393 and 397)

Persuasion and adaptive rhetoric

His original sales pitch is factually useful but uncompetitive. After Meng Hao feeds him grandiose phrases, Wu Hai reproduces them immediately and continues seeking advice. His strength is adaptation and sincerity, not independent deception: he becomes more effective because he is willing to learn and because his enthusiasm makes even borrowed rhetoric convincing. Cultivation

Wu Hai is a practicing Crow Scout cultivator and participates in tribal activity, but the supplied chapters do not establish a named technique, totem specialization, or exact cultivation stage. His documented contribution is social and organizational.
