Mo Li

Mo Li is a black-robed Southern Domain Nascent Soul cultivator recruited by Yan Song to break the formations guarding an ancient alchemical site in the Western Desert.

Biography

Bargaining over the Spirit Severing Pill

Mo Li joins Yan Song and Eccentric Wang near the Black Lands–Western Desert border while they wait for the expedition's other members. He immediately questions the size of the group because every additional participant reduces each person's share of the promised Spirit Severing Pill. Yan Song assures him that the pill can be divided five ways. Mo accepts the arrangement, but his cool challenge establishes that cooperation is based on negotiated profit rather than trust or loyalty. (Chapters 389–390)

The expedition members enter the five Crow Divinity Tribes under separate identities. Mo becomes a tall, stalwart, savage-looking Crow Gloom vassal associated with the name Mo Zi. Meng Hao recognizes him and Eccentric Wang when their reactions to the man-form Outlander Beast do not match the surrounding tribespeople. A later Karmic Severing attack cuts the threads connecting Mo and the other expedition members to Meng Hao, but it does not end their shared pursuit of the ancient site. (Chapters 419–424)

Breaking into the seventh volcano

At the target volcano, the disguised expedition kills the local tribe members and reveals its true appearances. Mo and Wang work as the planned formation team: together they erect a shield that prevents outsiders from entering, then descend to attack the seventh volcano's restrictive spells because Yan Song believes that route is weakest. Their work gives the group access to the gray alchemical world, where Mo emerges behind Yan Song and Li Tian and sees Meng Hao already beside the pill furnace. The supplied chapters end his foreground role at that confrontation. (Chapters 428–430)

Appearance and personality

Mo Li originally wears a black gown and speaks in a cool, guarded manner. His Crow Gloom disguise is a tall, stalwart middle-aged man with savage features; that body should not be treated as his natural appearance. He is suspicious about reward-sharing, practical about cooperation, and disciplined enough to maintain a tribal identity until the group no longer needs concealment.

Abilities and cultivation

Mo is an early Nascent Soul cultivator whose specialized value is formation analysis performed with Eccentric Wang.

Formation analysis and restrictive-spell breaking

Mo and Wang claim that together they can analyze the complex formations of Crow Divinity Mountain without assistance from the other expedition members. At the seventh volcano they act on that division of labor, using coordinated magical techniques to wear down its restrictive spells. The ability is collaborative: the corpus consistently assigns it to the pair and does not show Mo independently breaking the full defense. (Chapters 390 and 428)

Sealing shield

After the expedition eliminates witnesses, Mo and Wang perform double-handed incantations that create a shield over the volcano. The barrier prevents anyone else from entering while the group opens the protected route. Its duration, maximum resistance, and whether either man can sustain it alone are not stated. (Chapter 428)

Disguise and Nascent Soul standing

Mo maintains a convincing Crow Gloom vassal identity until Meng Hao reads a momentary mismatch in his reaction. His early Nascent Soul cultivation supports the dangerous expedition and the rapid killing of the local defenders, but the text does not isolate a named offensive technique belonging to him. The Mo Li in this expedition is distinct from the unrelated Black Sieve formation figure mentioned much later in the corpus; no identity continuity connects those namesakes.
