Meng Clan Maternal Grandfather

Meng Clan Maternal Grandfather, commonly called Grandpa Meng, is the Meng Clan elder who leaves home seeking a cure for Meng Hao’s Seventh Year Tribulation and is later installed as Heavengod, Lord of the Eighth Mountain and Sea. Meng Hao awakens his dispersed soul during the Seventh–Eighth Mountain war, after which he becomes one of the Realm’s principal defenders.

Biography

Disappearance while seeking a cure

Meng Hao’s maternal grandfather comes from the illustrious Meng Clan of the Eighth Mountain. When the child’s recurring death at seven years old defeats every treatment, Grandpa Meng leaves with Grandpa Fang to seek an Outsider who might explain the tribulation. Neither returns, and the absence weakens both family branches. The later revelation that Shui Dongliu arranged their missions connects this personal rescue attempt to the long preparation for the Mountain and Sea catastrophe. (Chapters 799–800 and 1393)

Sleeping Lord of the Eighth Mountain

Meng Hao eventually follows familiar fluctuations and his grandfather’s command medallion to the temple atop the Eighth Mountain. The armored body on the throne is alive and full of exterior power, but its soul has merged into the entire Mountain and Sea and forgotten how to return. A bloodline curse cast through Grandpa Meng’s relatives prevents that reunion. Meng Hao breaks the curse and deliberately challenges Sima Dao, Lord White of the Seventh Mountain, using the clash between Mountain Lords as the catalyst that calls the wandering soul home. (Chapters 1285 and 1293–1302)

Awakened as Heavengod, Grandpa Meng ends the Seventh Mountain’s advantage and later fights an incarnation of the invading Outsider Dao Sovereign. Meng Hao joins him on the Eighth Mountain, and grandfather and grandson combine a Mountain-and-Sea sealing mark with the Eighth Demon Sealing Hex to stop the fleeing clone. Their reunion is affectionate rather than ceremonial. Grandpa Meng explains that Shui Dongliu made him Mountain Lord, while Grandpa Fang received a different mission outside the Realm. (Chapters 1301–1302 and 1313–1322)

Guardian of the surviving Realm

Grandpa Meng gathers the Eighth Mountain’s survivors and continues resisting the 33 Heavens. Two thousand years after the Realm’s fall, he has reached the 7-Essences Paragon level and serves as one of four grand guardians of the Mountain and Sea Butterfly. When Meng Hao recreates the Eighth Mountain and Sea, Grandpa Meng watches in tears and leads its cultivators in celebration. His survival turns the mission that separated the family into a continuing guardianship of the world his grandson rebuilds. (Chapters 1338, 1544 and 1556)

Appearance and personality

When sleeping on the Eighth Mountain, Grandpa Meng is a very old man enclosed in armor and seated on a throne. After awakening, his most consistent trait is open familial love: he looks at Meng Hao with pride, laughs at his achievements, and hates having to part again. Toward enemies he is decisive and severe. He is prepared to confront Ji Tian if the Ninth Mountain Lord betrays the Realm, yet tells Meng Hao to follow his own heart rather than subordinating him to family authority.

Abilities and cultivation

Mountain and Sea lordship

As Lord of the Eighth Mountain and Sea, Grandpa Meng draws on the Mountain’s power for attacks, pressure, and sealing. A stamp of his foot distorts surrounding space and creates a vast sealing mark capable of holding a Dao Sovereign clone long enough for Meng Hao to immobilize it. His authority also lets him empower and organize the Eighth Mountain’s defense.

Soul diffusion

His soul can merge throughout an entire Mountain and Sea, existing everywhere while the body remains on the throne. This grants a profound connection to the domain but left him vulnerable to a curse that blocked the path back. The ability is therefore not ordinary invulnerability; without Meng Hao’s bloodline cure and catalyst, his consciousness would have continued fading into instinct.

High-Essences combat

Soon after waking, Grandpa Meng is more than halfway into the 6-Essences level and repeatedly drives back a Dao Sovereign incarnation. Over the following two millennia he reaches 7-Essences Paragon strength. The later realm is explicitly cultivated growth, not simply the automatic power of being Mountain Lord.

Spatial sealing

His Mountain-and-Sea mark twists the starry sky into a restraint. It combines effectively with the Eighth Hex, whose Body-Mind principles later form the recreated Eighth Mountain and Sea’s control over space. The chapters show synergy with Meng Hao’s hex but do not say Grandpa Meng personally possesses Demon Sealing inheritance.
