Greed is an ancient prisoner who split his soul to evade the 33 Hells and attempts to take Meng Hao's body as a route back to the world.

Biography

The possession trap

Greed senses Meng Hao's exceptional bloodline, body, and foundation when the 33 Hells opens. The prison has prevented him from successfully entering earlier visitors, but Meng Hao appears vulnerable after extreme injuries. Greed possesses him and believes the escape is proof of destiny. (Chapters 1234 and 1238–1239)

Inside the host he reconnects the severed head, heals broken bones, and begins redesigning the flesh. He examines Meng Hao's sealed treasures with ancient knowledge, refines the wooden Immortal Murdering Swords with Flame Essence, and forces the fourth Nirvana Fruit into fusion. He then kills cultivators by gripping heart, soul, and life force together, absorbing the resulting white mist to strengthen the body. (Chapters 1239–1242)

Recognition of the old prison

Greed remembers Exalted Celestial Sea-Dao and realizes that the 33 prisoners were intended to become pills for a successor. He plans to steal that inheritance and uses Xuan Daozi as a source of further life force. His avarice treats bodies, treasures, Dao experts, and ancient plans as consumable resources. (Chapters 1242–1243)

Consumed by the host

Meng Hao's soul was never erased. The fourth Nirvana Fruit begins consuming Greed's life-force Essence, the foundation of his survival and the very power pinning him inside the body. Greed realizes Paragon Nine Seals anticipated his split-soul escape and made Meng Hao the actual trap. Unable to flee, he tries to consume Meng Hao's soul directly and fails. His Essence and gains accelerate Meng Hao's fusion before Greed is consumed. (Chapters 1244–1246)

A later appearance associated with Greed shows that the ancient threat has echoes beyond the destroyed possessing fragment, but the supplied passage does not justify treating it as an uninterrupted survival of the exact soul consumed in Meng Hao. (Chapter 1375)

Appearance and personality

Greed has no stable independent body in this arc; he speaks and acts through Meng Hao, distinguished by cold eyes and a vicious smile. He is brilliant, knowledgeable, cruel, and defined by compulsive acquisition. Every advantage convinces him to risk more, which is precisely why Nine Seals' trap works.

Abilities and cultivation

Soul splitting and possession

He divides his soul to evade imprisonment and can enter a sufficiently vulnerable host. Possession grants bodily control and access to the host's storage, but does not automatically erase the resident soul. A prepared bloodline or soul defense can trap him inside.

Life-force Essence

Greed's core Essence preserves him in the land of death, heals the host, and drains victims. His withered hand can seize heart, soul, and Nascent Divinity as one system, preventing spiritual escape. Because the Essence is also his soul foundation, losing it means irreversible collapse.

Body and treasure refinement

He resets bones, reconnects flesh, strengthens meridians, and recognizes ancient seals on weapons. Refinement consumes Essence, attention, and time; it is expert craft, not effortless omnipotence.
