Frigid Snow Clan Third Elder
Frigid Snow Clan Third Elder is the Frigid Snow Grand Elder who first bargains with Meng Hao for the use of his poison. She repeatedly defends the agreement and argues that his ability should be tested fairly.
Biography
Recruiting Meng Hao
The Third Elder first meets Meng Hao during Holy Snow City's siege, leaving the walls to fight an enemy Nascent Soul commander before turning to the unfamiliar poison expert brought back by Hanxue Shan. She offers a Frigid Snow Larva in exchange for a year of battlefield poison service. When other clan figures doubt the bargain, she defends the promise and argues that Meng Hao's ability should be tested by results. Her solution is a competition rather than either blind trust or immediate rejection, establishing her as the elder most willing to convert an outsider's unusual talent into a practical defense. (Chapters 355–358)
She attends the alchemical confrontation involving Zhou Dekun, Yan Song, and Meng Hao. Unlike spectators carried away by reputation, she remains attentive to what the pills actually demonstrate and watches Meng Hao reverse the apparent result with an unfinished but extraordinary concoction. When Zhou Dekun is abducted, the Third Elder joins the other elders in trying to intervene, though their combined authority is insufficient to prevent it. (Chapters 359–365)
Bargain under siege
The original one-year agreement becomes impossible as Holy Snow City approaches collapse. The Third Elder therefore renegotiates in good faith: the four elders can use clan methods to shorten the Frigid Snow Larva's maturation to less than half a year, allowing Meng Hao to receive the promised benefit within the time the city may still possess. She also warns him that Ta Luo's challenge is a provocation and attempts to follow when he accepts, only to be blocked by the enemy formation. Her conduct consistently treats Meng Hao as a contracted ally whose risk matters, not a disposable foreign cultivator. (Chapters 366–367)
The siege then strips away the space for negotiation. The Third Elder is wounded while fighting above the breached city and must withdraw when the revived Thorn Rampart fills the battlefield beyond anyone's control. Although injured, she returns to clan duties and helps protect survivors against pressure from a Spirit Severing expert. That defense forces her cultivation to drop, making the cost permanent rather than a superficial wound. (Chapters 368–370 and 374)
Evacuation
After Meng Hao's intervention saves the remaining clan, the Third Elder bows with the other injured elders in thanks. She does not attempt to claim his achievements as the result of their bargain; the scale of his assistance has exceeded what the contract required. During the final attack she helps activate the Frigid Snow teleportation formation and remains at her post until the surviving clan can escape. She then teleports away with them after a final bow to Meng Hao, preserving a remnant of the people even though Holy Snow City itself is lost. (Chapters 379 and 381–382)
Appearance and personality
The Third Elder is a gray-haired old woman and a senior member of the four Frigid Snow Grand Elders. Her age and elder title mark institutional authority, while wounds and falling cultivation during the siege increasingly show the physical cost of maintaining it. The text emphasizes her presence in council and defense more than distinctive clothing or facial detail. (Chapters 355–382)
She is pragmatic, fair-minded, and protective of promises. She does not trust Meng Hao without evidence, but she also refuses to let prejudice invalidate a bargain after it has been made. In battle she applies the same ethic to the clan: she continues shielding survivors after personal injury and accepts a lasting cultivation loss to keep the evacuation possible. (Chapters 356–358, 366–374 and 379–382)
Abilities and cultivation
Nascent Soul cultivation
The Third Elder can fight an enemy Nascent Soul commander outside Holy Snow City and contribute to the elders' combined defense. She is nevertheless outmatched by Spirit Severing pressure, and shielding others from it causes her cultivation to fall, clearly defining the gap between realms. (Chapters 355 and 368–374)
Battlefield defense
She can project power from the city, contest a breach, and help shield clan members under large-area pressure. This is sustained defensive work rather than a named invulnerable barrier; wounds and cultivation loss accumulate as the siege continues. (Chapters 355, 368–370 and 374)
Clan-resource authority
As a Grand Elder she can promise a Frigid Snow Larva and coordinate the four elders' methods to accelerate its maturation. The process requires collective elder action and time, so she cannot instantly create a mature larva by herself. (Chapters 356 and 366)
Alchemy appraisal
She follows the pill dispute closely enough to question appearances and support a fair test. Her competence is evaluative and administrative; the corpus does not identify her as an alchemist equal to the specialists competing before her. (Chapters 358–365)
Teleportation formation
She helps activate the Frigid Snow Clan's escape formation under attack. The formation is a shared clan mechanism requiring surviving elders and preparation, not a personal teleportation art she can use without infrastructure. (Chapters 381–382)
Relationships
- Meng Hao: Recruited poison expert and eventual savior of the survivors. She defends their bargain, warns him of traps, and honors his help with formal gratitude.
- The other Frigid Snow Grand Elders: Her partners in government, larva maturation, defense, and the final teleportation. Their combined effort cannot defeat every attacker but preserves the clan remnant.
- Hanxue Shan: Young clan member through whom Meng Hao enters Holy Snow City. The Third Elder treats Hanxue Shan's report seriously enough to investigate his value.
- Zhou Dekun and Yan Song: Alchemists whose confrontation she observes while evaluating what Holy Snow City can gain from outside specialists.
