Fang Yunyi

Fang Yunyi is the bald, gold-robed Fang Chosen whose powerful fleshly body earns him a place among the clan's leading juniors. His defeat by Meng Hao turns an arrogant competitor into a frightened factional opponent and, eventually, a clansman forced to recognize the person who saves him.

Biography

Immortal Ancient temple expedition

Fang Yunyi cultivates inside a pressure-filled basin, using only his body to withstand an environment that would crush weaker cultivators. When the Fang Clan sends its Three Great Chosen to the newly opened Immortal Ancient Daoist Rite temple, his first motive is personal: he hopes to win the medallion for Zhixiang and improve her opinion of him. He arrives with two Dao Protectors and deliberately suppresses his cultivation below true Immortality so that a later breakthrough will have the strongest possible foundation. (Chapters 806 and 809–813)

The temple's restrictions and Meng Hao's control of its entrance frustrate the visiting Chosen. Fang Yunyi is proud enough to seek alternate entry but cautious enough to stop when danger warns him away. During the later mountain pursuit, that caution becomes calculation. He locates Meng Hao, demands that he join his entourage, and opens with body pressure and direct fists before revealing that other attackers are converging. His role is to hold Meng Hao in place for the ambush rather than win alone. (Chapters 815–823)

Meng Hao's Eighth Hex freezes him at the crucial instant. The Blood Demon Grand Magic then drains the physical power on which Fang Yunyi relies, and Meng Hao stores his nearly withered body as a captive. The defeat exposes two limits at once: his cultivated flesh can contest other body experts, but it cannot resist a Demon Sealing lock, and a coordinated plan fails when its anchor is neutralized. His Dao Protectors later recover him badly injured. (Chapters 823–833)

Fang Wei's faction

Back on Planet East Victory, Fang Yunyi responds to humiliation by attaching himself to Fang Wei. He incites Fang Xuzhong to challenge Meng Hao in plants and vegetation, only for Meng Hao's alchemical knowledge to make the proxy furious at Fang Yunyi instead. Fang Yunyi then reports Meng Hao's rise to Fang Wei and follows the suggestion to exploit free lectures against him. These indirect efforts show that his rivalry has shifted from open combat to factional maneuvering because he knows he cannot defeat Meng Hao personally. (Chapters 896–920)

At Brightmoon Lake he plans to humiliate Fang Xi and denounces the declining direct bloodline. Meng Hao intervenes with the authority of a tier-eight alchemist, physically punishes Fang Yunyi, and forces another promissory note from him. Fang Wei does not protect him, leaving Fang Yunyi terrified enough to understand that another provocation could be fatal. The revelation that Meng Hao is also Fang Mu destroys his remaining confidence in their relative standing. (Chapters 927–930 and 971)

Clan rebellion

Fang Yunyi is not among the bloodlines that turn traitor during the rebellion. He is bewildered when former clan allies attack, and Meng Hao kills the cultivator threatening him. Being saved by the cousin he repeatedly opposed leaves him with a bitter, complicated expression rather than renewed defiance. His last scenes therefore distinguish factional hostility from treason: he supported Fang Wei and attacked the direct line, but did not join the conspiracy to destroy the clan. (Chapters 994–995)

Appearance and personality

Fang Yunyi is bald, powerfully built, and dressed in gold, with star-like lights in his eyes when his body cultivation surges. He is proud, aggressive, and romantically fixated on Zhixiang, but not merely reckless: he recognizes lethal restrictions and designs ambushes around stronger allies. Repeated humiliation makes him fearful and indirect, while his refusal to join the rebellion preserves a boundary between ambition and betrayal.

Abilities and cultivation

Suppressed cultivation and body foundation

Fang Yunyi stands between Dao Seeking and the Immortal Realm during the temple expedition because he is deliberately suppressing his breakthrough. The purpose is not weakness but foundation-building: the Three Great Chosen intend to enter true Immortality only after accumulating the strongest preparation possible. His body alone withstands the basin's crushing pressure, and its released force can tear the surrounding air and place weaker opponents under an invisible weight. Suppression still limits the power he can safely display on Planet South Heaven. (Chapters 806 and 809–810)

Heaven Sundering and the two-headed Dharma Idol

His ordinary fist carries physical force beyond peak Dao Seeking. Heaven Sundering intensifies that savagery and clarifies the humanoid Dharma Idol behind him into an archaic two-headed giant. The Idol echoes his punch and lets him contest Meng Hao through roughly a hundred body exchanges. It is a concentrated body art rather than invulnerability: Meng Hao's own Dharma Idol, roc transformation, and Mountain Consuming Incantation injure him, while the Eighth Hex stops his motion before his trapping palm can complete the ambush. Physical resilience and its counters

Fang Yunyi can continue fighting after extreme collisions, but the Blood Demon Grand Magic specifically turns his strength into fuel for its user. Once sealed, he cannot prevent the art from withering him almost to death. Later beatings also break bone and force submission despite the magically reinforced floor remaining intact. His record therefore demonstrates high endurance within his realm, not an indestructible constitution or a defense against sealing and absorption. (Chapters 823, 833 and 930)

Ambush and factional tactics

He can conceal the true purpose of a challenge, use his body to delay a target, coordinate timed arrivals, and recruit proxies through clan connections. These methods are effective only while allies and information remain reliable. Meng Hao detects the temple ambush from Fang Yunyi's wording, and Fang Xuzhong turns against him after discovering that the supposedly easy alchemy target is overwhelmingly skilled.
