Fang Xi

Fang Xi is a friendly Fang clansman who receives Meng Hao on Planet East Victory and becomes his guide, supporter, and source of clan information. He remains loyal when the internal rebellion erupts.

Biography

Welcoming Meng Hao home

Fang Xi is a direct-line descendant and the son of Meng Hao's nineteenth uncle. He meets Meng Hao during the latter's contentious arrival on Planet East Victory and quickly introduces himself as a younger cousin. Rather than treating the returning heir as a factional problem, Fang Xi helps him navigate the clan, explains its younger generation, and becomes a constant presence in his residence. His openness gives Meng Hao a family connection inside a clan otherwise filled with old grievances and competing bloodlines. (Chapters 896–901)

Partner in the Dao of Alchemy

When Meng Hao begins lecturing in the Dao of Alchemy Division, Fang Xi turns the lectures into an organized enterprise. He becomes an apprentice alchemist, builds relationships across the peaks, collects merit-point payments, advertises “Professor Fang,” and uses his increasingly theatrical speeches to enlarge the audience. The arrangement serves both cousins: Meng Hao gains resources, while Fang Xi develops a talent for persuasion, logistics, and reading a crowd. Their schemes sometimes fail when rival lectures draw the audience away, but Fang Xi remains beside Meng Hao and helps him adapt rather than abandoning the venture. (Chapters 902, 907–912, 921–922)

Public loyalty to the direct line

Fang Xi's association with Meng Hao makes him a target. Blackmoon Guards push him aside at Brightmoon Lake, prompting Meng Hao to place him under direct protection and confront the guard corps and Fang Wei. During the East Ascension Sun, Fang Xi reaches a height of 1,200 meters despite the mounting heat and pressure, but his attention remains fixed on Meng Hao's ascent. He later gathers information about Fang Wei's seclusion and openly declares that Meng Hao—not Fang Wei—should be the one reaching true Immortality. As Meng Hao's tribulation begins, Fang Xi joins the direct line's visible support and recognizes that the mysterious Fang Mu from the recruitment trial had also been his cousin. Rebellion and later responsibility

When the internal rebellion erupts, a direct-line clan member unexpectedly attacks Fang Xi. He is wounded and surrounded by chaos, and the sight of his danger is one of the events that drives Meng Hao to intervene with killing intent. Fang Xi's loyalty never changes sides. After the rebellion, he continues acting as Meng Hao's messenger and confidant during the dispute over joining the Three Great Daoist Societies and the plan to evade an arranged marriage. Much later, Meng Hao nominates him to manage the newly renamed Fang Clan Bazaar on Planet South Heaven, explicitly treating the position as a chance for Fang Xi to gain experience and mature. Appearance and personality

Fang Xi is open, excitable, loyal, and socially fearless. He can stare in amazement at Meng Hao's arguments one moment and turn those lessons into extravagant salesmanship the next. His enthusiasm is not merely comic: he stands up for Meng Hao when Fang Wei dominates public opinion and remains defiant when stronger cultivators threaten him. He is also practically useful, gathering rumors and moving through social circles that Meng Hao does not understand. Unlike the elders who calculate which branch will win, Fang Xi treats kinship as a commitment. That trust is rewarded with protection, responsibility, and a place in Meng Hao's plans. Abilities and cultivation

Fang bloodline cultivation

Fang Xi possesses ordinary direct-line Fang cultivation rather than the exceptional foundation of the clan's Three Great Chosen. During the East Ascension Sun he rises to 1,200 meters and meditates under its heat and light, a meaningful achievement shared by other capable clan juniors. The pressure becomes increasingly difficult for him to absorb, establishing his limit relative to Chosen who climb much higher. His value in later conflicts does not come from pretending that this cultivation gap does not exist. (Chapters 933–934)

Information and institutional knowledge

As a clan insider, Fang Xi knows its guard corps, alchemy division, direct-line politics, and circulation of rumors. He can discover that Fang Wei has entered secluded meditation, bring Meng Hao news of arriving sect delegations, and help spread plans through the clan. These are not supernatural divination abilities: they depend on relationships, mobility, and attention. That distinction makes his information reliable within the clan but not equivalent to secret knowledge possessed by elders. (Chapters 907–911, 943, 1007–1013)

Persuasion and commercial organization

Fang Xi learns from Meng Hao's debating style and turns it into crowd management. He recruits alchemy apprentices, frames paid lectures as communal obligations, collects merit points, and promotes Meng Hao under a memorable public identity. The later bazaar appointment builds directly on these skills. His persuasion can enlarge an audience and organize trade, but cannot defeat a more compelling attraction by itself; when a rival lecture empties Meng Hao's crowd, both cousins must change tactics. Loyalty under pressure

Fang Xi's most consistent strength is behavioral rather than mystical. He continues speaking for Meng Hao while Fang Wei's faction is dominant, endures being shoved aside by stage-three Immortal guards, and remains loyal when attackers emerge from within the direct line itself. He requires Meng Hao's protection in battles against such opponents, but his willingness to stand publicly with his cousin gives the direct line a voice among the younger generation.
