Fang Hehai
Fang Hehai is Meng Hao's paternal grandfather, hidden as a discarnate soul within the body prepared to serve as the Heaven Severing Doyen.
Biography
A reserve prepared for the final war
Fang Hehai vanished years earlier with Meng Hao's maternal grandfather while seeking an Outsider capable of saving the child. His fate remains concealed even when the Three Scriptures' Doyens enter the war. The figure called the Heaven Severing Doyen joins the Dao Divinity and Sublime Spirit Doyens in a long-prepared trap, spending body, disciples, and scriptural power to seal an Eight-Essences Paragon. (Chapters 1319, 1365–1366 and 1372–1380)
The first identity within that body genuinely withers during the seal. The deeper preparation then activates: Fang Hehai's discarnate soul possesses the body as a second life, retaining access to the Heaven Severing Scripture. A disciple dissolves into scriptural symbols to fuel the transition. This explains why the Doyen seems both dead and somehow changed. (Chapter 1382)
Recognition and sacrifice
Fang Hehai looks toward the Fang forces and Meng Hao with familial love. His face changes to resemble Fang Xiufeng and Meng Hao, allowing his grandson to recognize the grandfather remembered from childhood. The reunion lasts only moments because the sealed Paragon is escaping. (Chapter 1382)
He converts the possessed body and Heaven Severing cultivation into a final spike. His forehead ruptures, his body withers, and the attack joins the other Doyen preparations against the Paragon. His last look rests on the descendant who makes him proud; the sacrifice consumes his remaining aura completely. (Chapter 1383)
Appearance and personality
The Doyen body initially appears as a separate old expert. After Fang Hehai surfaces, its face resembles his son and grandson and carries the familiar gaze Meng Hao remembers. He is patient enough to remain hidden for the Realm's strategic need and loving enough that recognition survives possession and centuries of preparation.

Discarnate-soul second life
A grand magic places Fang Hehai's soul inside another expert's body. It remains dormant until the first occupant dies, then assumes control while preserving the body's Heaven Severing Scripture access. This is a prepared succession mechanism, not unrestricted possession of arbitrary hosts.
Three-Doyen seal
Together with two peer Doyens and their disciples, he helps create a triangular scriptural seal capable of restraining an Eight-Essences Paragon. The method consumes the participants over time and weakens when any one side withers.
Heaven Severing Spike
He condenses body, aura, and Scripture into a spike released from the forehead. The attack has extreme penetration and Paragon-threatening power, but it is terminal: his body rapidly withers and his soul does not return.
