Fang Daohong

Fang Daohong is a Fang clansman encountered in the ancestral land. Meng Hao subdues him and forces him to serve as a guide through the Nine Nethermountains, Ancient Burial Ground, and Misty Heaven Vault.

Biography

Captured guide

Fang Daohong is a black-robed Fang Clan elder operating in the ancestral land when Meng Hao and the Dao Guardsman corner him. He introduces himself with exaggerated respect, but the Quasi-Dao pressure makes refusal impossible. Meng Hao binds him with restrictive magic and orders him to lead the way. Daohong's first loyalty is therefore coerced by pain and fear, yet he immediately proves useful by explaining the Nine Nethermountains and the clan's Nethermoon secret magic. Each impossible obstacle Meng Hao crosses convinces him that submission was the correct choice. (Chapters 953–954)

At the Ancient Burial Ground, Daohong waits at the boundary because he knows how deadly its spatial rifts are. He briefly considers escape, but the restriction and Meng Hao's relentless progress dissuade him. When other black-robed elders converge to seize Meng Hao's treasures, Daohong changes from passive captive to active ally. He blocks one attacker and persuades Fang Linhe to accept subjugation rather than die, presenting both men as potential instruments of revenge against Fang Xiushan. (Chapters 955–958)

Misty Heaven Vault

Daohong explains that even Ancient Realm cultivators cannot safely cross the Misty Heaven Vault and warns that Meng Hao lacks a Soul Lamp. The bronze lamp's ability to clear a path overturns everything he knows about the ancestral land. Once Meng Hao disappears toward the first patriarch's necropolis, Daohong and Linhe reason that their imposed bond could become an opportunity for advancement. They sit outside as Dharma Protectors, consciously choosing to support his attempt rather than exploit his absence. (Chapters 959–960)

The ancestral land later ejects both followers before Meng Hao. They refuse to condemn Fang Xiushan with the other returning elders and instead wait silently beside the exit. Meng Hao's subsequent thirty-thousand-meter Dharma Idol confirms their judgment: Daohong openly rejoices that becoming his follower was great fortune. His arc moves from opportunistic surrender, through self-interested cooperation, to genuine commitment to Meng Hao's rise. (Chapters 964–966 and 969)

Appearance and personality

Daohong is an old man dressed in the black robes worn by Fang Clan ancestral-land cultivators. He is cautious, socially agile, and candid when survival requires it. He flatters Meng Hao after capture but does more than merely submit: he supplies useful knowledge, fights a former ally, recruits Fang Linhe, and reframes a humiliating restriction as access to a future patron. His pragmatism gradually becomes conviction as the evidence of Meng Hao's potential accumulates.

Abilities and cultivation

Daohong is a Fang Clan elder with a recovered cultivation base strong enough to battle another black-robed ancestral-land cultivator.

Clan cultivation

He can fly, fight Fang Linhe at close range, and repeatedly strike Linhe until the latter's cultivation falls to a safely restricted level. The combat is undertaken to engineer a surrender rather than kill. No named personal Daoist magic is demonstrated, so the article does not assign him one of the ancestral inheritances he merely describes. (Chapters 957–958)

Ancestral-land guidance

His principal expertise is knowledge of the Nine Nethermountains, Nethermoon secret magic, Ancient Burial Ground, spatial rifts, Misty Heaven Vault, Soul Lamp requirement, and first patriarch's necropolis. This lets him warn Meng Hao and interpret what they encounter. It does not make him immune to those dangers: he remains outside the burial rifts and vault while Meng Hao advances using exceptional artifacts and abilities. (Chapters 954–960)
