Duo Lan

Duo Lan is a Demon Butterfly Tribe Chosen whose butterfly totem lets her detect Meng Hao's remote Demonic perception. Their first encounter teaches her caution; later appearances trace her growing recognition of the gulf between them.

Biography

Encounter in the Black Lands

Duo Lan travels from the Western Desert with Luo Chong while searching the infertile Black Lands for an unspecified destination. Her butterfly totem detects that a remote consciousness is observing them and identifies the quality as Demonic. Unlike Luo Chong, who dismisses the local cultivators, Duo Lan immediately addresses the unseen presence as a Demon Lord and tries to prevent an offense. (Chapters 323–324)

Her warning comes too late. Violence from the group draws Meng Hao's Righteous Bestowal Demonic Incarnation, and Duo Lan sees that he can project punishment through Demonic qi without standing physically nearby. She accepts and swallows his medicinal pill as compensation and submission, judging that refusal would worsen the conflict. When the incarnation later destroys another aggressor, she leaves with a clear understanding that Meng Hao's territory and methods cannot be evaluated by ordinary Black Lands standards. Recognition across the Western Desert

More than a century later, Duo Lan stands among the high-status observers at Blackgate Fort. Meng Hao seems familiar, but she cannot initially connect the renowned figure below with the terrifying remote presence from her youth. As his battle reveals more of his power, recognition arrives and disbelief replaces uncertainty. Her controlled reactions contrast with Zhang Wenzu's contemptuous dismissal of Meng Hao as an insect. (Chapters 510–515)

Duo Lan subsequently watches Meng Hao's battle with Patriarch Huyan through the Demon Butterfly Tribe's screen. She has learned much about him and stubbornly admits to herself that the distance between their cultivation is vast. She questions his apparent choices, then recognizes the design when the outcome becomes clear. A Demon Spirit later activates before her and teleports her toward the Primordial Demon Immortal Plane, where she appears among the Western Desert and Black Lands entrants. Appearance and personality

Duo Lan is described as incredibly beautiful, with expressive brows and controlled bearing. She deliberately relaxes a frown or masks surprise when others might read her reaction, fitting both her title of “Goddess” and her position among tribal Chosen.

Her caution is perceptive rather than timid. She detects danger before her companions, apologizes when escalation offers no benefit, and later revises her judgment as evidence accumulates. Pride remains—she is stubborn about admitting how far Meng Hao has advanced—but it does not prevent accurate analysis.

Abilities and cultivation

Demon Butterfly totem

The butterfly totem senses remote Demonic perception before ordinary cultivators notice anything. It gives Duo Lan an early-warning function and helps her classify Meng Hao as a Demon Lord. The source also associates the totem with protection of her companions, but it does not show the shield successfully resisting Meng Hao's full remote incarnation.

Totem cultivation

As a Chosen of one of the great Western Desert tribes, Duo Lan has cultivation and status sufficient to travel with elite escorts, stand among the Heavenly Court Alliance's leadership, and enter the Demon Immortal opportunity. The supplied scenes emphasize perception and survival rather than a named offensive technique.

Demon Spirit transport

A Demon Spirit can envelop Duo Lan in glittering light and teleport her into the Primordial Demon Immortal Plane. The Spirit is a key and transport medium rather than an inherent movement art: activation depends on possessing the external object and on the plane's opening.
