Crow Scout Greatfather

The Crow Scout Greatfather is the white-haired chief who leads the Crow Scout Tribe through Meng Hao's rise and the reunion of the Five Tribes. He combines ritual authority, defensive command, and pragmatic negotiation before sacrificing his remaining life force during the Heartdevil Flower disaster.

Biography

Recognition and protection

The Greatfather first appears with the two High Priests when the long-dormant Ancestor Greenwood Tree awakens after sensing a Demon. He bows with genuine apprehension because the sacred ancestor has not stirred for roughly two sixty-year cycles. Meng Hao's later enlightenment confirms that the disturbance is not an ordinary vassal matter. (Chapter 395)

When Meng Hao brands the Greenwood Tree totem, the Greatfather rushes to his courtyard, identifies himself, and publicly stands guard. He bars the Crow Soldier Tribe from entering and commits the Tribe's tree-shaped shield when the Spirit Severing Outlander Beast arrives. The shield breaks and wounds its maintainers, but the decision prevents Meng Hao from being surrendered simply because an outside power demands him. (Chapters 408–410)

Ancestor Rite and alliance bargaining

The Greatfather explains the Ancestor Rite as two battle royals—one for Totem cultivators and one for Dragoneers—with bloodshed among actual Tribe members prohibited. Vassals bear the danger, while performance determines access to the Pool of Destiny. He accepts the Outlander Beast's surprising victory and watches Meng Hao's Greenwood Tree undergo Ancestral Awakening. (Chapters 418–427)

After the Five Tribes reunite, their leaders focus on securing Meng Hao's Grand Dragoneer strength. They initially allow Zhou Ye to pressure him, hoping to force a clear commitment, but Meng Hao returns with tens of thousands of neo-demons and demands an explanation. The Greatfather leads the reconciliation: gifts of neo-demons, recurring spirit-stone support, food for the horde, a share of spoils, and a Grand Elder rank equal to the Greatfathers. The concessions are expensive, but losing Meng Hao would be strategically worse. (Chapters 433–436)

Death in the migration crisis

The alliance's position collapses when the Exotic Heartdevil Flower traps senior cultivators without advance preparation. The Greatfather cannot escape or even self-detonate as his body withers. In his final moment, he damages his own body and spirit to send remaining Greenwood life force into the Crow Scout Priest behind him. That recipient passes the combined power onward, creating a chain intended to preserve at least one Tribe member. The Greatfather dies insisting that they cannot all perish. (Chapter 440)

Appearance and personality

He is a white-haired old man with the bearing of a Nascent Soul chief. His public voice is authoritative enough to close the Tribe, define sacred contests, and negotiate for the alliance.

The Greatfather is cautious, politically calculating, and capable of forcing leverage, but not indifferent to obligation. He protects Meng Hao during a genuine crisis, pays heavily after a failed maneuver, and turns his final seconds toward collective survival rather than resentment.

Abilities and cultivation

Nascent Soul leadership

His Nascent Soul cultivation places him among the Crow Scout Tribe's pinnacle powers. It supports flight, spiritual pressure, defensive formations, and the life-force transfer at death. It remains far below Spirit Severing power and offers no independent escape from the Heartdevil Flower.

Tribal shield

The Greatfather helps activate a tree-shaped barrier that blocks other tribes and can resist large-scale assault. Multiple leaders sustain it together. An Outlander Beast at Spirit Severing level shatters it, injuring the linked cultivators and demonstrating that the formation multiplies tribal power without erasing realm differences.

Greenwood life-force transfer

While trapped, he converts fatal damage to body and spirit into a stream of life force sent to another Crow Scout senior. The power can be passed onward and accumulated, making it a sacrificial relay rather than personal healing. It does not save the donor.

Political resource deployment

As chief and alliance spokesman, he can grant neo-demons, spirit stones, rank, supplies, access rights, and shares of war spoils. These are institutional powers requiring agreement among the Five Tribes, not private possessions.
