Chen Mo

Chen Mo is a late Nascent Soul expert of the Demon Talisman Tribe who competes with Xu Bai and Zhixiang for a Demon Spirit in the Realm of the Bridge Ruins.

Biography

Contest for the Demon Spirit

Chen Mo's reputation precedes him: by the time of the Bridge Ruins expedition, he has already spent two centuries at late Nascent Soul. He and Xu Bai stand close enough to a newly appeared Demon Spirit to believe it can be seized, only for Zhixiang to take it before either detects her movement. Their humiliation immediately turns into a three-sided pursuit. (Chapter 466)

Meng Hao then uses an Agarwood attack whose ripples fill fifteen thousand meters. Chen retreats and raises a defensive technique, yet the impact throws him hundreds of kilometers and leaves him coughing blood. He and Xu Bai use minor teleportation to resume the chase without healing, demonstrating both the durability and urgency expected of great-tribe experts. Zhixiang answers with flower images bearing their faces; as the flowers turn to ash, both men suffer sympathetic injury and are forced to stop. (Chapters 466–467)

The Demon Spirit ultimately passes through Zhixiang's and Meng Hao's hands while Chen and Xu Bai can only watch. Later accounts emphasize that the pair never forget the loss. Their testimony spreads Meng Hao's reputation, and the narrative assesses a fresh battle between Chen and the newly empowered Meng Hao as one whose survivor would be difficult to predict. Watching Patriarch Huyan's battle

Chen later appears beside Xu Bai as an effeminate, cold male cultivator watching Meng Hao fight Patriarch Huyan through a magical projection. He recognizes the apparent impossibility of using the Heavenly Pursuit snake-bone whip, then correctly infers that Meng Hao's actions are part of a prepared tactic. The scene closes his role not with another defeat, but with professional acknowledgment of the rival who once escaped him. (Chapters 557–558)

Appearance and personality

Chen is described as effeminate, gentle and soft in outward bearing, yet cold. He reacts sharply to humiliation and is willing to pursue while injured, but does not continue once Zhixiang proves she can damage him remotely. His later analysis of Meng Hao is concise and technically minded rather than resentful.

Abilities and cultivation

Late Nascent Soul foundation

Chen reached late Nascent Soul two hundred years before his debut. That foundation lets him survive being hurled hundreds of kilometers by an attack that terrifies the surrounding experts and makes him one of only three people in the scene considered a meaningful threat to Meng Hao.

Defensive magic

When the Agarwood ripples arrive, Chen retreats while deploying a protective technique. It reduces a potentially catastrophic impact to severe displacement and blood loss, but does not negate the force. The source does not name the spell or show it withstanding repeated strikes.

Minor teleportation

Chen can chain short-range teleportation into pursuit immediately after injury. The technique supplies burst movement rather than unrestricted travel and cannot overcome Meng Hao's superior escape speed or Zhixiang's interference.

Resistance limits

Zhixiang's face-shaped flower curse links a collapsing image to Chen's body, making him cough blood without direct contact. Her follow-up finger attack forces further retreat.
