Chen Hao
Chen Hao is a Chosen who advances through the final Ancient Road arena rounds and later joins five other true Immortals in challenging Meng Hao.
Biography
Ancient Road tournament
Chen Hao enters the Ancient Road's final arena as the Chosen of the Bones of the Flamedevil, one of the Five Great Holy Lands. He defeats Li Yan to reach the top thirty-two, although the victory leaves him seriously injured. Against Meng Hao's tournament identity, Fang Mu, he unleashes his sect's strange living flame and continues fighting even after recognizing that he cannot win. Meng Hao finally pins him with a spear; Chen Hao pays more than three million spirit stones to learn how much strength his opponent used, then concedes after receiving the answer “seventy percent.” (Chapters 869–872)
True-Immortal challenge
After attaining true Immortality, Chen Hao answers the appearance of Meng Hao's unprecedented Immortal foundation. He manifests more than one hundred flame dragons and twelve flame-giant Immortal souls, joining five other Chosen whose sects have prepared them for generations. Their combined assault is not merely personal rivalry: refusing to challenge Meng Hao could break their confidence and obstruct their future Daos. Meng Hao defeats the alliance despite every member possessing more than ninety Immortal meridians, confirming the gulf between them without erasing Chen Hao's standing among ordinary Chosen. (Chapters 985–987)
Appearance and personality
Chen Hao is skinny, with long hair, a black robe, and fire flickering in his eyes. He is proud and intensely competitive, but not incapable of accepting evidence. He fights beyond the point at which he knows he is outmatched, then values an honest measure of the gap enough to pay for it and concede.
Abilities and cultivation
Flamedevil life-force flame
Chen Hao's invisible flame is not ordinary five-elements fire. It contains a strange will and appears bound by a summoning contract to a powerful being that bestowed it, making it resemble a life-force flame. It distorts the air, can form a devouring mouth, and can be shaped into armor, a spear, and fields of volcanic fire. The armor is both defense and reserve: Chen Hao detonates it to break the pull of Meng Hao's Star Plucking Magic, sacrificing the protection for an explosive escape.
Flame Dharma Idol and blood meteors
His Dharma Idol is a scaled corpse burning with black flames. He can also spit blood that becomes lava and then a shower of meteors. These techniques broaden his attacks from direct weapon forms to large-area pressure, but the Eighth Demon Sealing Hex can arrest his cultivation base and scatter the flame manifestations before they land.
True Immortal foundation
By Chapter 986, Chen Hao has opened more than ninety Immortal meridians and formed twelve Immortal souls shaped like flame giants. He turns his surrounding sea into more than one hundred flame dragons and coordinates their attack with five peers. The formation compels Meng Hao to use his own Immortal meridians, but it still cannot match Meng Hao's 123-meridian foundation.
