Ghost-Sealing Hourglasses
The Ghost-Sealing Hourglasses are portable prisons fashioned by Cheon Yo-hwa to contain ghosts, anomalous identities, and fragments of Infinite Void.
History
The Hyakki Yagyo arsenal
Yo-hwa converts her victory over the school ghost stories into a belt of sealed entities. Each hourglass contains a dangerous subject whose rules she can potentially impose on another battle. The white hourglass holding Infinite Void is the most consequential: breaking it releases an Outer God against Infinite Metagame, trading containment for a temporary and dangerous alliance. (Chapters 95–97, 110, 122, 141–155)
Weapons with their own risks
Other glasses remain part of Yo-hwa's black-mage equipment and are carried into later campaigns. A separate vessel containing a doppelganger is broken during the Mastermind operation. Every release risks contamination, possession, or an entity acting beyond the setting Yo-hwa intended, so the hourglasses are prisons first and reliable weapons only under constrained conditions. (Chapters 176, 248–249, 255)
Abilities and properties
- Seals anomalous beings in a portable sand-glass vessel. (Chapters 95–97)
- A glass can be broken to release its occupant, but release does not guarantee obedience. (Chapters 154–155)
- Different vessels preserve distinct identities and conditions rather than one uniform ammunition type. (Chapters 248–249)
