Da Huang

Da Huang is one of two young Icy Soul Heavenly Bears raised by Zhou Weiqing and Shangguan Bing'er. He and Er Huang usually appear as a pair: affectionate companions, powerful guards, and renewable sources of Heavenly Energy for Zhou's Devour Skill. The corpus names Da Huang individually during one expedition in the Lustre Spatial Realm, but otherwise provides no stable physical or temperamental marker that distinguishes him from Er Huang.

Biography

Raised at the edge of the Stars Forest

After approximately two years in Zhou and Bing'er's care, Da Huang and Er Huang follow them out of the Stars Forest. Although already formidable Heavenly Beasts, they pant while trying to keep up, nuzzle Zhou when called, and immediately cower when Fat Cat growls. Their size and conspicuousness lead Zhou to purchase a spatial ring capable of holding living creatures, giving the pair mobile shelter and giving Bing'er access to their protection. (Chapter 34)

Life at the Fei Li Military Academy makes housing them a practical concern. Bing'er rejects leaving the bears confined in the ring indefinitely because they would become bored, so Zhou rents a house outside the academy. The bears sleep outside Bing'er's room as guards. At this stage they are young Zun Stage beasts in an important growth period, understand roughly sixty to seventy percent of human speech, and are expected to reach the Zong Stage as adults. Guard and hunter in the Lustre Spatial Realm

Da Huang and Er Huang accompany Zhou and Bing'er when the Fei Li Battle Team departs. Their habit of sleeping for days, combined with enormous appetites, drives visibly rapid growth. They are also treated as serious protection: Bing'er notes that even one is at least Zun Stage and that their fighting power should not be weaker than hers and Zhou's at the time. (Chapters 55, 64)

Inside the Lustre Spatial Realm, the two bears alternate periods accompanying Zhou with wider exploration. The pair can kill ordinary Zun Stage beasts in a few swipes and have even brought down weaker low-level Zong Stage opponents. Da Huang is the bear explicitly identified beside Zhou when the young man confronts a mid-level Zong Stage Strong-Arm Demonic Ape; their combined effort barely kills it. Da Huang also remains nearby while Zhou cultivates, functioning as a deterrent and guard. (Chapter 100)

Living reserve for Zhou and the Peerless Battalion

Zhou later releases both bears in battle and places a hand on each to Devour some of their Heavenly Energy. Da Huang is frightened by the process but does not resist because he trusts Zhou. The amount taken is deliberately limited, causes no lasting harm, and can be recovered quickly; the exchange lets Zhou replenish energy that his strongest techniques consume faster than he can naturally restore it. (Chapter 101)

During the Peerless Battalion period, Zhou leaves Da Huang, Er Huang, and Little Red Bean behind to guard the camp while he leads an operation elsewhere. In a later battle against Blood Red Hell experts, he again summons both bears as emergency energy reserves. Their known role consequently develops from dependent companions into strategic support: their presence can deter ordinary enemies, while their Heavenly Energy extends Zhou's ability to fight. Appearance and personality

Da Huang is an Icy Soul Heavenly Bear whose youthful, bulky form is strong enough to carry a rider. The early narration describes both bears as adorably foolish and simple-looking, and later calls them large fellows after their rapid growth. No unique coat marking, sex, or other individual physical identifier is supplied for Da Huang. (Chapters 34, 55, 64)

He is affectionate toward Zhou and Bing'er, obedient enough to answer his name and understand much of their speech, and trusting enough not to resist Zhou's Devour. He is also deeply afraid of Fat Cat: a low roar makes both bears drop and cover their heads. Those shared reactions do not establish that Da Huang and Er Huang have identical personalities; they reflect the limited individual evidence the corpus provides. (Chapters 34, 45, 101)

Abilities and cultivation

Zun Stage growth and physical combat

Da Huang is a young Zun Stage Heavenly Beast with the future potential to become a Zong Stage adult. His development is tied to prolonged sleep and heavy eating, which produce rapid physical growth. In combat, the bears rely on exceptional strength, resilience, and claw attacks: together they dispose of ordinary Zun Stage beasts quickly. Da Huang's named showing against the Strong-Arm Demonic Ape is a joint victory with Zhou and a narrow one, so it does not establish that he can independently defeat a mid-level Zong Stage beast. Comprehension, guarding, and mobility

The bears understand an estimated sixty to seventy percent of human speech while still young. Da Huang can follow commands, stand guard through a cultivation period, travel through dangerous terrain, and serve as a mount. His dependence on a living-creature spatial ring is logistical rather than a natural teleportation ability; Zhou must release him before he can act. (Chapters 34, 45, 100–101)

Heavenly Energy contribution

Zhou can use Devour through direct contact to draw Heavenly Energy from Da Huang. The process alarms the bear but, when used briefly, does not injure him and is followed by quick recovery. This is not a skill Da Huang consciously casts, nor does the text imply unlimited reserves: Zhou treats it as a short emergency replenishment from both bears at once. (Chapters 101, 139)

Relationships

• Zhou Weiqing: Zhou helps raise and house Da Huang, relies on him as a guard and fighter, and draws on his Heavenly Energy in emergencies. Da Huang responds with affection and trust despite fearing Devour's unfamiliar sensation.
• Shangguan Bing'er: Bing'er raises the bears alongside Zhou, insists that they not remain confined indefinitely, and is entrusted with the ring that lets her summon them for protection.
• Er Huang: The two bears are reared, housed, transported, and deployed together. They are distinct named creatures, but the corpus does not call them siblings or provide a consistent way to tell them apart visually.
• Fat Cat: Both bears fear the apparently small white tiger's superior bloodline and obey its warning growls.
• Little Red Bean: The three Heavenly Beasts guard the Peerless Battalion camp together. Little Red Bean is portrayed as more intelligent, possibly because of age or species rather than any confirmed deficiency in the bears.
