Sentinel’s Crown — He Who Fights with Monsters

The Sentinel’s Crown is a gold circlet set with a blue forehead gem and paired with the Sentinel’s Orb. Clive Standish gives the matched growth items to Neil so their shield, healing and mana effects can reinforce his role as Team Biscuit’s healer. (Chapters 169, 235)

History

Clive and Valdis find the crown and orb among legendary growth equipment displayed beneath adventurer statues in the Reaper trials. After returning to the team, they present both items to an incredulous Neil. He initially protests that the gift is too valuable, but Clive treats the choice as obvious: Neil is their teammate, and he can repay them by keeping everyone alive. (Chapter 169)

Neil incorporates the matched set into his equipment and advances his growth items before Jason performs his own bronze-rank weapon ritual. No additional effect is reported at that advancement, but the original pair already reshapes the efficiency of Neil’s shields and the resources they return to the people he protects. (Chapters 169, 235)

Properties and use

The crown continuously increases mana recovery and briefly accelerates that recovery after Neil uses a shield-based essence ability. It also reduces the mana cost of those abilities. These effects address a healer’s central resource constraint, allowing more frequent protection without making the mana supply unlimited. (Chapter 169)

When Crown and Orb are both wielded, shield abilities also grant a mana-over-time effect. The crown’s paired bonus complements the orb’s healing-over-time bonus, turning each shield into layered protection and recovery. Both additional benefits depend on possessing the complete set and actually using a shield ability; losing either item removes the linked effect associated with that pairing. (Chapter 169)
