Magister’s Tithe
Magister’s Tithe is the matching wand to the Spell Lance of the Magister. Clive discovers the legendary growth pair in a Reaper-trial astral space, and the wand’s mana-draining effects give his spell-heavy combat style a way to weaken enemies while sustaining pressure. (Chapter 164)
History
Clive and Valdis find a ring of statues with real equipment laid out on their plinths. Clive is drawn to a dark wooden staff and a blue metal wand covered in flowing lines, but checks for hidden traps before claiming them. His identification power, assisted by Jason’s party interface, reveals the pair as legendary growth weapons attributed to the possibly mythical Magister. (Chapter 164)
The wand remains part of Clive’s regular paired loadout as it advances with him. During his silver-rank duel with a messenger, Magister’s Tithe is knocked away when the attack destroys Onslow’s vessel, leaving Clive to fight with the staff alone. Its absence matters because it removes the paired enhancement and one of his main tools for sustaining magical combat. (Chapter 680)
Properties and use
The wand fires a disruptive-force beam that inflicts Mana Siphon, an affliction that increases the strength of mana-draining effects used against the target. It also projects a dedicated mana-draining beam. Wielding the wand together with the Spell Lance increases the drain, creating a deliberate sequence in which the wand makes later resource attacks more effective. (Chapter 164)
Magister’s Tithe requires a power capable of wielding magical tools. Its paired advantage also requires Clive to hold and retain both weapons, a condition broken if he is disarmed or separated from either item. The wand supports endurance by taking enemy mana; it does not remove the heavy costs of Clive’s barriers, rituals and amplified spells when no viable target can be drained. (Chapters 164, 680)
