Zato is the last silver-ranker in the Greenstone Builder cult and its leader during the attempt to seize the Reaper’s astral space.

Biography

The cult’s final commander

After the island stronghold falls, Zato preserves a substantial remnant by leading its evacuation while every other local silver-ranker dies. That success leaves him responsible for desperate survivors, and he rewards Timos’s careful preparations by making him second-in-command. Rather than abandon the Builder’s project, Zato commits the remnant to a new stronghold and oversees the conversion of captives and followers into weapons. (Chapters 196, 201, 223–250)

The Builder modifies Zato into a metal-bodied enforcer stronger than his former essence-user self and trusts him to stop Team Biscuit from disabling the world-engineer. Zato nearly succeeds through superior rank, repeated explosive attacks, and extreme resilience. The team’s coordinated use of stolen powers, gold-rank spirit coins, and accumulated momentum finally overwhelms that advantage, with Sophie exploding his body into liquefied metal. Skills and abilities

Before conversion, Zato is a silver-rank essence user and experienced commander. The Builder’s alterations replace or consume his essence powers and give him a metal body with explosive offence, rapid recovery, and extraordinary toughness. The body survives catastrophic blows but is not invulnerable; coordinated rank-boosted attacks ultimately destroy it. (Chapters 240–258)

• Timos: Zato initially finds Timos overly cautious, then acknowledges that his precautions saved the cult and elevates him to second-in-command. (Chapters 196, 201, 223)
