Zara Rimaros

Zara Rimaros, once known as Zara Nareen, is a Storm Kingdom princess and storm-specialist adventurer whose public connection to Jason Asano begins as a political fiction and eventually becomes a genuine relationship. Her development is defined by attempts to separate royal obligation from personal choice, followed by the decision to reclaim her name and use the political reach she once fled to challenge indentured servitude.

Biography

Return to Pallimustus and Rimaros

Zara meets Jason during the Reaper expedition and quickly recognises that his irreverence is backed by dangerous competence. After his apparent death, she publicly names him as her fiancé to shield Kasper Irios from an arranged marriage and take the scandal onto herself. She acts without royal permission because officials would not accept a plan that damaged her reputation and prospects, but Jason’s unexpected return converts a protective lie into an international embarrassment. Rather than treat her as simply deceptive, he comes to understand that she accepted the cost to protect someone else. (Chapters 178–182, 465, 485–486, 506)

The Storm Kingdom tries to repair Zara’s political standing through a staged reunion and rejection, placing both her autonomy and Jason’s image inside a royal strategy. Zara sees more clearly than her advisers how badly Jason has been damaged and how little a tidy public narrative can address that. She ultimately abandons her claim and the Hurricane Princess title, is adopted into her mother’s family as Zara Nareen and seeks a life where belonging is earned rather than imposed. Her request to serve as royal liaison is rejected, while joining Team Storm Shredder gives her broad storm powers a practical role beyond court politics. (Chapters 485–506, 593, 621)

Adventuring as Zara Nareen changes what she wants from royal power. Team Storm Shredder’s destruction leaves her traumatised after she refuses to abandon people and has to be dragged to safety, after which Sophie Wexler offers a place with Team Biscuit. Years of taking lower-paying contracts, protecting vulnerable communities and undermining exploitative indenture schemes show Zara that isolated rescues do not change the systems producing the abuse. That lesson eventually motivates her to reclaim the Rimaros identity as a tool for reform rather than merely a birthright. (Chapters 665, 773, 848, 870, 925)

Gold-rank return to Earth

By the expedition to Earth, Zara has reached gold rank and openly restored her sapphire Rimaros hair. She tells Jason that she intends to make the Storm Kingdom the first major power to eliminate indentured-servitude laws. The choice is not obedience to his agenda: she grounds it in what Zara Nareen witnessed while adventuring and deliberately uses her tarnished reputation to make early reform efforts look less threatening. Reclaiming her title therefore joins the two lives she once tried to separate—the princess supplies political leverage, while the adventurer determines what that leverage is for. (Chapter 925)

On Earth, Zara operates as both a royal expedition leader and an elite combatant. Her gold-rank cyclone pins and dismembers massed monsters so other specialists can attack into it, demonstrating the battlefield-scale coordination her abilities enable. She later leads Storm Kingdom gold-rankers in taking Elizabeth and other prisoners into Jason’s astral space, then publicly kisses him. Their relationship is genuine but not politically simple: Earth gives them room away from Pallimustus’s competing agendas, while both recognise that romance involving a princess and Jason becomes statecraft once they return home. Appearance and personality

Zara is a celestine with caramel skin, sapphire-orb eyes and hair that falls like blue light, slightly taller than Jason and lithe enough to turn grace into an intentional social weapon. As Zara Nareen, she conceals the royal sapphire beneath a milky teal shade; when she reclaims the Rimaros name and mission, the sapphire returns. Her appearance is thus politically legible, but her later choice to display it is her own rather than a concession extracted by court or companion. (Chapters 178, 593, 925)

She is perceptive, poised and willing to be reckless for someone else’s welfare. Early decisions reveal a habit of accepting public consequences before asking permission, while later experience makes her more attentive to trauma, structural injustice and the difference between a compelling story and a workable solution. With Jason she is teasing and candid, comfortable enough to puncture his grandiosity while also understanding the loneliness and political distance created by his power. Magic and abilities

Storm specialist

Zara’s abilities centre on wind and water at enormous scale. She can create hurricane-force battlefields that batter, drag and slice targets, using jets of water and blades of wind as sustained area attacks. The storm also creates a controlled environment for allies: monsters held and churned inside it become targets for lightning, explosions and other attacks whose users can fire with reduced concern for precise placement. This makes her especially valuable against hordes, though the storm is less suited to delicate engagements or dispersed individual targets. (Chapters 665, 952)

Rank, perception and battlefield limits

Zara advances from iron during her early adventuring work to elite silver rank in Rimaros and eventually gold rank before the Earth expedition. Gold rank expands the force and endurance of her storm enough to shred silver-rank monsters and impede gold-rank ones, but it does not make the power unconditional. Natural magical arrays can suppress her wind and water, undead enemies can absorb or exploit those elements, and maintaining or recasting a vast storm consumes effort while more focused allies still handle surviving high-rank targets. Leadership and political skill

Zara reads court incentives, public narratives and battlefield needs with the same pragmatic attention. She commands Storm Kingdom gold-rankers, manages prisoners and understands when Jason’s personal relationships have become relationships between rulers. Her political judgment is sharpened by failures: the invented engagement protects Kasper but creates a scandal she cannot contain, while years outside the palace teach her that removing individual abusers leaves oppressive law intact. She becomes most effective when she combines royal access with adventurer experience instead of choosing one identity over the other. (Chapters 486, 925, 971, 973)

• Jason Asano: Zara first turns Jason’s death into a politically useful fiction, drawing him into a scandal when he returns. Respect, shared adventuring and candid disagreement gradually replace the fiction with a real romance, although both know that her royal position makes their relationship politically consequential on Pallimustus. • Vesper Rimaros: Vesper acts as Zara’s politically astute companion and intermediary, helping manage contact with Jason and viewing the royal family’s proposed outcome more optimistically than Zara does. Their difference shows Zara’s growing refusal to let palace strategy erase the people harmed by it. (Chapters 178, 465, 485–486)
• Soramir Rimaros: Zara’s grandfather represents both family affection and the immense political machinery attached to her name. Reclaiming Rimaros does not mean surrendering to that machinery; it is an attempt to redirect royal influence toward abolition. (Chapters 506, 925)
