Velius

Velius is the Reaper’s prime vessel, an ancient celestine whose avatars let him operate on fragile worlds without exposing them to his full power. He is an old acquaintance of both Shade and Shako, and later works under the identity of a fertility doctor among the Asano Clan’s transformation-zone refugees. (Chapters 435, 839–854)

Biography

Vessel, physician and cosmic witness

Velius initially questions the continuing great-astral interest in Jason Asano, but the threat of the Cosmic Throne brings him into direct cooperation with Raythe, the Keeper of Moments’ prime vessel. His warning frames the throne as an authority no individual should possess, and he later serves as the Reaper’s mouthpiece when Jason changes the cosmic order. On Earth, he helps Jason’s family through the clan’s dangerous formation, including refugee fertility work and informing Rufus Remore of Gary’s death. Once Jason returns and the clan stabilises, Velius considers that service complete and prepares to leave. (Chapters 799, 839–869, 959)

Skills and relationships

Velius is a diamond-ranker whose true presence would endanger Earth’s dimensional boundary, so he works through lower-impact avatars. His long relationship with Shade and direct service to the Reaper give him exceptional astral knowledge and resources, while his medical identity shows that his mission includes practical care rather than only cosmic intervention.
