Marie Finnegan is the former director of the Zurich Network branch and a gold-rank investigator in the reality-core conspiracy.

Biography

Investigation corrupted into conspiracy

Marie begins as an investigator rather than a gifted fighter, but embezzles monster cores to force her advancement to gold rank. Exposure costs her position and expels her from the legitimate Network structure. Instead of accepting that consequence, she joins Elizabeth’s attempt to secure reality cores and rebuild power outside oversight, turning the analytical skills that once served investigation toward concealment, theft, and escape. (Chapters 951–953, 960)

When the conspiracy collapses, Marie flees with Elizabeth and a blood-clone Gerling rather than surrender. Her gold rank makes capture difficult but does not erase the gap between advancement and combat mastery. Jason and Zara eventually seize Marie, Elizabeth, and Remy, leaving Marie alive as a prisoner whose forced rank and investigative experience could not protect the conspiracy from opponents better suited to direct conflict. Skills and abilities

Marie is a gold-rank essence user with investigative expertise and a corrosive touch capable of inflicting severe acid-like damage. Her advancement was driven by monster cores, and she is explicitly not a naturally gifted fighter. Rank provides formidable physical attributes, but trained gold-rank combatants can exploit her limited battle experience. (Chapters 951–960, 969–975)
