Biography

From invasion commander to dissident

Marek leads a breach force over Yaresh but privately rejects the idea that messengers are superior merely by existing. He follows orders without wasting lives for glory, studies Jason's team instead of underestimating it and later confronts evidence that astral-king doctrine is a mechanism of control. After surviving Jason's territories, he moves toward the Unorthodoxy; Jason expects Marek and his followers to accept Boris's refuge only by their own choice, preserving the autonomy Marek has begun to claim. Marek has gold-rank messenger flight, aura, light magic and command awareness. His greatest battlefield skill is restraint: he allocates monsters and subordinates according to actual threat, recognises dangerous powers early and avoids personal risk that serves only prestige. (Chapter 667)
