Li Mei

Li Li Mei is Li Ning’s daughter and an Earth-born core user who first encounters Jason as a silver-rank representative of the Chinese magical faction. She later reaches gold rank on Pallimustus, where fear of Jason and a habit of trading information shape her attempt to build an independent life. (Chapters 321, 405–406, 900–907)

Biography

From faction envoy to displaced survivor

Li Mei remains behind after her father storms away from Jason’s provocation, revealing more curiosity and restraint than Li Ning. During a transformation-zone crisis she commands Chinese forces and persuades competing factions to pool ritual knowledge, then calls in the gold-rank Chen when entry becomes possible. Fifteen years later, she has built a controlled gold-rank persona while hiding from Jason, whose earlier Earth conflicts left her unsure whether he would kill or ignore her. After Boko is destroyed, she tries to collect valuable recordings of his power; Adventure Society investigators confiscate them and pressure her until Shade and Jason intervene. Jason chooses to offer her better opportunities rather than punish the manipulation through which she survived. (Chapters 321, 405–406, 900–907)

Skills and relationships

Li Mei learns languages and dialects rapidly by observing local speakers, a useful tool for an outworlder rebuilding status on Pallimustus. Her gold rank comes through monster cores and self-directed advancement, leaving gaps in training but demonstrating persistence, political sense and an instinct for valuable information.
