Adris Dorgan is one of Greenstone’s three leading crime lords and the secret father of Adventure Society director Elspeth Arella.

Biography

Criminal pragmatism and a father’s bargain

Dorgan presents himself as an administrator of Old City’s unofficial government, maintaining standards that distinguish his organisation from the predators around it. When Rufus investigates smugglers linked to the Builder cult, Dorgan supplies names and access in exchange for support protecting Arella’s position. The bargain serves his power, but it is also a father’s calculated attempt to shield a daughter whose public legitimacy depends on their relationship remaining hidden. (Chapters 96–116)

The Builder purge strengthens Dorgan because he cooperates while rivals either harbour cultists or collapse. He refrains from exploiting every weakness immediately and helps channel the purge toward dismantling the worst criminal operations. His consequence is survival and increased influence, illustrating that his restraint is strategic rather than moral absolution. (Chapters 130–216)

Dorgan is a bronze-rank essence user, polished negotiator, and experienced organiser with intelligence networks throughout Old City. His power comes primarily from information, patronage, and enforceable bargains; he avoids direct clashes with silver- and gold-rank forces that could erase his organisation.
