Darce

Darce is the sole woman in Nigel Thornton’s nine-person tactical section and one of its heavy operatives. Her brass steam golem adds another frontline body to a team built around tight combined-arms roles. (Chapters 297–299)

Biography

The section’s summoner

Darce meets Jason during an incursion-space mission, where she helps explain the section’s irreverent culture while deploying its most unusual power. Her steam golem is cheaper to summon than a conventional familiar but runs on a finite power supply, forcing her to treat it as a timed tactical resource. During the vampire attack on Network headquarters, she urgently summons it to block a stairwell while the team withdraws. Years later she remains with Nigel’s veterans and carries steampunk-styled equipment into another dangerous operation, still acting as the formation’s heavy support. (Chapters 297–299, 391–393, 981)

Skills and relationships

Darce’s brass golem is a durable bulwark with a limited operating reserve. Its lower summoning cost makes replacement or rapid deployment easier, but she must position it where its remaining power produces the most protection. (Chapters 299, 391)
