Belinda Callahan
Belinda Callahan is Team Biscuit's deceptive-support specialist, combining traps, copied abilities, conjured equipment, and familiars into an unusually adaptable toolkit. She begins as a Greenstone thief whose first priority is keeping Sophie Wexler alive. Training turns her appetite for tricks into disciplined field craft, while teaching and intelligence work eventually let her reject the fear that powers built around deceit make betrayal inevitable. (Chapters 43, 104–114, 145, 984)
Biography
Reaper trials and the Builder crisis
Belinda enters the story trapped with Sophie under Clarissa Ventress's protection, watching her closest friend be forced back into the fighting pits as the price of staying beyond Cole Silva's reach. When Jason later offers escape, protection, or a path to becoming adventurers, Belinda recognises that every choice carries risk but refuses passive dependence on fate. Her practical judgement helps Sophie accept help without surrendering all agency, and her willingness to test Jason Asano and Clive Standish becomes the first step toward trusting people outside their two-person partnership. (Chapters 43, 104–114)
Belinda chooses Magic, Adept, and Trap essences specifically because their Charlatan confluence promises flexible, unconventional powers. The choice is character as much as combat design: she refuses to imitate a straightforward adventurer and bets that imagination can turn undervalued abilities into advantages. Once the rituals give her that opportunity, she trains relentlessly with Sophie and the new team. Her inexperience remains real, but Clive's instruction and repeated mirage battles teach her to convert street improvisation into plans that companions can understand and rely upon. (Chapters 145, 180, 186, 190)
During the Reaper trials and Builder crisis, Belinda proves that the team can trust those instincts. Her traps protect the back line, her copied forms let her fill missing roles, and Mirror Magic combines with Neil's buffs to create effects neither could produce alone. She also works beside Clive on the Order's portal architecture and the mechanism threatening the astral space. Reaching bronze expands her eclectic powers rather than simplifying them, validating her original decision: usefulness comes from reading the situation and choosing the right deception, not from becoming a conventional attacker. (Chapters 224–228, 237, 242, 256–258)
Yaresh and the messenger war
At silver rank, Belinda returns as an established member of Team Biscuit whose old instincts now serve rescue as readily as infiltration. During Yaresh's collapse, she assesses the civilians in the most precarious positions and either extracts them or calls the teammate whose power fits the problem. Shimmer's eye beams cut debris precisely, Gemini duplicates Jason's shadow hands, and her planning directs familiars through spaces others cannot reach. The work demonstrates how thoroughly her former survival skills have become a shared resource rather than a private escape route. (Chapters 476, 583, 660)
The messenger war also exposes the limits she must accept. In sudden open combat, her Charlatan and Trap powers lose much of their advantage; copying Clive produces weaker attacks because her ordinary staff and wand cannot endure his ritual overcharge. Belinda answers by looking for context rather than resenting the mismatch. She persuades Humphrey to deploy trap surfaces into the enemy, turns Onslow's shell into a layered tether-and-pit position, and uses control to create opportunities for teammates whose direct attacks are stronger. Her contribution is often making the battlefield unfair on purpose. (Chapters 665–668)
Gold rank resolves a more personal conflict. Belinda had come to believe that a life and power set shaped by deception made her a delayed betrayal waiting to happen. She breaks through by teaching, finding an unambiguously constructive use for her knowledge, then continues in magical education on Earth. Intelligence work gives her trickery an equally natural purpose, with her wife Stella acting as instructor and partner. The result is not a rejection of the charlatan identity but a decision that deceit is a tool whose moral character comes from the ends and loyalties Belinda chooses. (Chapters 936, 982, 984)
Appearance and personality
Belinda is a human woman with short, scraggly hair and cute features. Her early clothing is practical and suited to a thief; after entering Jason's circle, she readily adopts the colourful, loose styles common to Greenstone. In combat she changes presentation frequently, conjuring armour, weapons, tools, or the visual effects of another role as her current power demands. (Chapters 43, 114, 257)
She is observant, irreverent, and deeply protective of Sophie. Belinda reads incentives quickly, spots traps in both plans and personalities, and enjoys abilities other people dismiss as awkward. That humour can make her seem unserious, but her improvisation rests on careful attention to terrain, equipment, and other people's capabilities. Her later success as a teacher shows the same instinct redirected: she knows where a learner or plan will fail because she is always looking for the weak point. (Chapters 104, 114, 145, 201, 665, 982–984)
Magic and abilities
Essence set and adaptive roles
Belinda's Magic, Adept, and Trap essences produce the Charlatan confluence. She selects the combination deliberately for breadth and trickery, and her powers reward preparation, imagination, and accurate assessment more than raw output. This makes her one of the team's most adaptable members, but not a universal substitute for its specialists. She can imitate a role long enough to fill a gap or enable a tactic; sustained head-to-head performance against someone such as Clive still exposes weaker equipment, lower specialisation, and the absence of the original user's synergies. (Chapters 145, 242, 665)
Instant Adept grants movement and agility skills, developing at bronze rank to include effects such as wall-running and water-walking. Counterfeit Combatant equips Belinda with a warrior form, including armour, shield, weapon, and later simple special attacks. Specious Sorcerer lets her wield staves and wands and later supplies basic spells, including Force Bolt and Neil's Life Bolt. These forms let her answer sudden needs, but each is an intentionally broad imitation; the advantage lies in switching roles intelligently, not outperforming a dedicated warrior, healer, or mage. (Chapters 242, 257)
Replication and cooldown control
Mirror Magic copies another person's spell and is central to Belinda's support identity. At bronze, she uses it to repeat Neil's Bolster spell, including a self-reinforcing combination that enables an unusually strong Hero's Moment. At gold rank, copying Farrah's Lava Cannon also allows both Belinda and Farrah to use the spell again without waiting for its normal cooldown. This can double a decisive team ability, but Belinda still needs a suitable ability to copy, a user positioned to cooperate, and the resources to enact her version. (Chapters 257, 936)
Her broader reset effects similarly let the team repeat costly abilities, making timing more valuable than spectacle. In large fights she alternates between copying major attacks and reducing cooldowns for allies, multiplying specialists instead of competing with them. The limitation is that a reset does not eliminate mana costs, equipment tolerances, or the tactical consequences of committing a power. If the copied or repeated attack is poorly chosen, Belinda has spent a rare support window without creating the opportunity her team needs. (Chapters 666, 917, 936)
Traps, tethers, and control
Force Tether connects nearby enemies to a conjured anchor and pulls them toward it, dealing damage when they resist. At gold rank, its activation produces a brief surge strong enough to compress an entire group of gold-rank pirates into one cluster, but the increased force fades quickly. Lightning Tether creates the opposite pressure: enemies that move away from its anchor suffer worsening electrical injury. Used together, the powers force a choice between displacement and damage, especially when Belinda controls where the anchors are placed. (Chapters 668, 917, 936)
Pit of the Reaper creates a dimensional pit on a roughly level surface. Shadowy tentacles seize nearby enemies, pull them inside, and inflict heavy necrotic damage until the duration ends and survivors are expelled. At bronze rank allies no longer fall in, making the pit a defensive position as well as an attack. Belinda can place it on purpose-built conjured plates, even upside down beneath Onslow's shell, but it requires a viable surface and does not guarantee a kill; during the messenger battle, roughly two thirds of the silver-rank monsters survive each cycle and must be caught again. (Chapters 237, 242, 668)
Power Lock is a curse that suppresses an enemy ability. Against a much higher-ranked target, it takes repeated attempts to overcome resistance, although failed attempts do not trigger the cooldown until the curse lands. The power exemplifies Belinda's role: removing the right hostile option can matter more than dealing damage herself, but she needs enough time and protection to keep testing the target's resistance. Her explosive runes and conjured trap hardware follow the same pattern, becoming most effective when the team can shape movement around them. (Chapters 227, 256, 665–668)
Familiars and field tools
Shimmer, Belinda's astral-lantern familiar, can subsume into her body and project precise force beams through her eyes. The beams lack the cutting speed of Gordon's larger array, but their finesse makes them ideal for delicate rescue work. Shimmer can also manifest separately and fire rapid force bolts. Gemini, her echo-spirit familiar, mimics the appearances and abilities of allies; its copies may be more illusion than full power, but they create real lesser effects and force enemies to respond as though the original attack might be coming. (Chapters 256, 660, 668, 746)
Stash is Humphrey's familiar rather than Belinda's, but he frequently operates as part of her plans. His shape-changing supplies heavy lifting, infiltration through tiny spaces, protected transport, and fast interception, complementing her assessment and control abilities. Belinda also uses conjured camp equipment, plates, rods, armour, a staff, and a wand as situational infrastructure. Ordinary equipment remains a ceiling: her staff and wand would break if subjected to the same overcharge that Clive's legendary growth weapons endure. (Chapters 660, 665, 668)

Relationships
- Sophie Wexler: Sophie is Belinda's oldest loyalty and the person around whom her early survival decisions revolve. Their bond grows from mutual dependence into a secure friendship in which both can pursue separate roles without treating distance as abandonment. (Chapters 43, 104–114, 180, 583, 984)
- Humphrey Geller: Humphrey leads the team that gives Belinda's tricks a reliable tactical framework. He trusts her unconventional opportunities enough to take dangerous positions on her instruction, while she uses his strength and Stash's forms as delivery systems for plans she could not execute alone. (Chapters 190, 665–668)
- Jason Asano: Jason offers Belinda and Sophie genuine choices when powerful Greenstone figures have only tried to own or use them. Belinda never stops testing his stories or teasing his excesses, but her willingness to build plans around his abilities reflects earned trust rather than naive belief. (Chapters 104–114, 583, 660)
- Clive Standish: Clive recognises Belinda's magical aptitude before she has essences and becomes her teacher. Their partnership develops into complementary expertise: he supplies theoretical depth and major ritual structures, while she finds bold shortcuts, catches practical flaws, and copies his magic when the team needs another version of it. (Chapters 104–106, 117, 224–228, 640, 665)
- Neil Davone: Belinda's replication and reset powers turn Neil's buffs and shields into more flexible team resources. Their early Bolster combination demonstrates how two support specialists can create a result neither power set reaches alone. (Chapters 257, 666–668, 917)
