Curse Doll
The Curse Doll is one of the apparently harmless handmade dolls through which a Wraith traps and exploits children's souls in Everglade.
History
A familiar object in Everglade
Sarah finds a doll whose familiar appearance recalls the toys made by her father, David Aurae, and keeps it despite Brandon's unease. The investigation reveals multiple soul-bearing dolls connected by curse threads, with the victims' voices and suffering used to manipulate the living. The text does not make the one-to-one identity of every doll completely explicit. (Chapters 71–83)
Destruction of the final vessel
Brandon destroys the final curse doll to end the Wraith's hold, knowing that Emma's trapped soul cannot be separated safely. The act ends the immediate threat and unlocks Brandon's Curse affinity, but it also causes Sarah lasting grief because the rescue she wanted becomes a mercy killing she did not choose. (Chapters 84–85)
Abilities and properties
- Carries or channels a trapped soul through curse threads and voices. (Chapters 77–84)
- Its cute handmade appearance hides its function; destroying the vessel also ends the soul's continued presence. (Chapters 71 and 84)
