Lumian
Lumian is a Milis-linked, S-rank half-Wraith swordsman whose attack costs Brandon an arm and opens the way for Ezekiel's lethal intervention. The body fighting under Lumian's name later claims to be Lucas Freyd, but Belle does not recognize its appearance and Ciel refuses to specify who controlled it. That unresolved body-and-identity problem is distinct from Lumian's clearly shown combat actions and eventual death at Brandon's hands. (Chapters 199–215)
Biography
The stranger who becomes an attacker
Brandon first encounters Lumian as a dehydrated stranger with navy-blue hair, red eyes, and a scar through one brow. After receiving water, the man introduces himself as Lumian and tries to join the travelers leaving the forest. The encounter turns hostile only when he recognizes General Amelia Constantine and manifests an odachi amid dark-purple embers. His instructions are to create trouble in Holy Britannia, making Brandon's accidental assistance the prelude to an attack rather than evidence that Lumian had approached in a familiar body. (Chapters 199–202)
The duel proves how far Lumian's speed, swordsmanship, and soulflames exceed Brandon and Amelia individually. Inside his Zone, the pair can bridge the formal rank gap through coordination, but prolonged use of Ezekiel's bestowed flames burns Lumian's core while Brandon's attacks drain his strength. Lumian nevertheless feints toward Amelia and severs Brandon's arm, then pursues the retreating group until Belle's task force arrives and suppresses him through combined pressure. (Chapters 200–205)
Lucas's name and Ezekiel's permission
Belle does not recognize Lumian's face, even though he recognizes her and speaks as if they shared a Milis academy past. Only after she and Ivan pierce his heart does he call himself Lucas Freyd, the missing friend Belle had believed dead. Belle explicitly notes that the navy-haired body does not resemble the Lucas she knew. She cuts off both of his arms, after which he grants “full permission” to Lord Ezekiel. The scene establishes a connection but leaves the relationship among body, name, and controller deliberately unstable. (Chapters 204–205)
After Lumian grants permission, the attackers next see a tall, platinum-haired Wraith that kills Belle and then burns to ash; the transition itself is not narrated. Ciel later calls the operative “the man known as Lucas” and says the fixed tragedy mattered regardless of who controlled the body. Lumian subsequently reappears alive and dehydrated elsewhere in the forest without the transfer or survival mechanism being explained. He therefore contributes to Belle's apparent death by granting permission, but the fatal strike belongs to Ezekiel's manifested Wraith rather than to Lumian's ordinary swordsman state. (Chapters 205–207 and 212–213)
Retaliation inside Brandon's Zone
Brandon's attempted life-for-life vow creates a grayscale flower-flame Zone but does not produce the restoration he wants. After the original Brandon's intervention returns Belle and alters Brandon's understanding of Skill Weaver, Brandon searches for Lumian instead of sacrificing that power. He approaches under the Moriarty identity, uses Dominion to suppress the soulflames, and activates the Zone, turning a chance forest encounter into a deliberately prepared execution. (Chapters 208–214)
Brandon binds his own life to a vow that seals Lumian's mana if Brandon can avoid drawing blood for twenty minutes. After meeting the condition, he tortures the immobilized swordsman by breaking every bone and prevents a second appeal to Ezekiel. A cursed chain then pierces Lumian's heart. The death ends Lumian's direct participation, but his earlier attack leaves Brandon maimed, changes several of Brandon's skills, and hardens his willingness to use vows and execution as instruments of control. (Chapters 213–214)
Appearance and personality
Lumian first appears with navy-blue hair, red eyes, and a scar across one brow. The Wraith seen after his grant of permission has long platinum-blonde hair and purple flames, but the corpus does not narrate the transition closely enough to treat that form as Lumian's stable appearance. He is tactical, resentful, and opportunistic: he initially bargains politely for water, attacks when he recognizes Amelia, and repeatedly exploits feints or personal recognition once battle begins. (Chapters 199–206)
Magic and abilities
Soulflames and swordsmanship
Lumian coats an odachi in purple soulflames and combines the affinity with extreme-speed close combat. Inside his Zone, dispersed soulflames raise his strength and speed, but excess use burns his core because he remains human or partly human beneath the bestowed power. Ciel later calls him a low-blooded half-Wraith, while Lumian's own perspective identifies Ezekiel as the source of the soulflames. His S-rank state overwhelms individual A-rank opponents, although coordinated pressure narrows the gap. (Chapters 199–205 and 215)
Swordsmanship and identity limits
Lumian's odachi skill, reflexes, and ability to cut Brandon's threads make swordsmanship at least as important as the flames; his own narration says magic is not his forte. The identity mechanics are less certain. The wounded body calls itself Lucas, grants Ezekiel control, transforms, and burns, yet Lumian later returns. Neither Belle nor Ciel explains whether Lumian is Lucas, an occupant, or another identity using the same vessel. The corpus supports the ambiguity, not a clean merger or a clean separation. (Chapters 199–215)
Power progression
| Stage / Realm / Ability | Chapter(s) | Notes |

| S rank | 202 | Confirmed by Holy Britannian standards; he can contend with coordinated A-rank opponents. |
| Killed inside Brandon's Zone | 214 | A cursed chain pierces his heart after the retaliatory pursuit. |
Relationships
- Brandon Locke: Lumian accepts Brandon's water under the Cid alias, then severs his arm after recognizing Amelia. Brandon later hunts him under the Moriarty identity, seals his mana through a binding vow, tortures him, and executes him with a cursed chain. (Chapters 199–205 and 212–214)
- Belle Locke: Lumian recognizes Belle from the memories or history associated with Lucas, but she does not recognize his face. His permission enables Ezekiel's Wraith to kill her temporarily, making Belle the emotional center of Brandon's retaliation without making Lumian the direct source of the fatal strike. (Chapters 204–214)
- Ezekiel: Ezekiel bestowed the soulflames and stands above Lumian within the Wraith operation. Lumian grants him full permission after being mortally wounded and tries to call on him again during Brandon's execution, but Brandon silences the attempt. (Chapters 202, 205–206, and 214)
- Lucas Freyd: The body fighting as Lumian claims Lucas's name after Belle pierces its heart, despite looking nothing like the friend she remembers. Ciel's refusal to distinguish the body's controller and Lumian's unexplained later return leave their precise relationship unresolved. (Chapters 204–215)
Items
- No generated notable item is uniquely assigned to Lumian; his odachi and soulflames are described as combat equipment and ability evidence, but the blade lacks a confirmed name or provenance.
