Nathan

Nathan Darkholme is a Darkness and Shadow wielder who moves from coerced tournament ally to a genuine member of Neo Hargraves's academy circle. (Chapters 42–46 and 160)

Biography

Tournament coercion, academy missions, and friendship

Nathan enters the ranking tournament by threatening Neo's companion and relying on Shadow Summons. Neo overwhelms him and forces him to expose the Shadow Insect Summon Spell, after which Nathan escapes with Arthur and Felix as part of Neo's unwilling coalition. His early hostility reflects a combat environment in which forbidden Shadow power has also left him socially shunned. (Chapters 42–46 and 177)

On the first S-rank Window mission, Nathan's summons provide the scouting that locates Lucas's Shadow and help the group survive. He also explains that Shadow users consume their own Shadows and may become half-Shadows able to revive under restrictions. Later scenes show the coercive alliance maturing into friendship: Nathan cooks for the group, worries obsessively over examinations, hosts companions after missions, graduates, and leaves to work for his God Clan. Appearance and personality

Nathan's guarded aggression softens around his friends. He remains anxious and prone to overpreparing, especially for schoolwork, but is also a capable cook whose food becomes part of the group's ordinary life between crises. (Chapters 145–160 and 351)

Powers and limitations

Nathan uses Darkness, Shadow Summons, insects, and remote scouting. His account of half-Shadow transformation describes the system shared by Shadow users; it does not establish a numbered personal stage. No formal Awakener rank or mastery tier is stated for him. (Chapters 42–43, 106, and 114)

Relationships

Neo first controls Nathan through superior force, while Arthur and Felix share Nathan's status as reluctant allies. Repeated missions and academy life turn those tactical ties into an enduring peer group, even after Nathan returns to his clan's service. (Chapters 42–46, 160, and 568)
