Celestial Worthy

Celestial Worthy is the creator of the Elemental Cosmos and the True Blessed Land. Initially known only through Neo Hargraves's deductions, he personally appears as the beggar Mu De to warn Neo about his Fate. He is later revealed as the last survivor of Cole's rampage and a peak Third Realm cultivator working to end the threat of the Daos.

Biography

Creator of a restricted Cosmos

Neo first identifies Celestial Worthy as the creator of his Cosmos while exploring the True Blessed Land. The artificial world imitates Celestial Worthy's native civilization closely enough to suppress even extremely powerful visitors. Its inhabitants, families, and institutions behave as living people, yet the world also functions as a training ground. Celestial Worthy designed its population and constructed its rules rather than merely discovering or administering a pre-existing realm. (Chapters 791 and 799)

The Cosmos's cultivation limits initially make Neo suspect its creator. Native beings can generate World Energy internally after becoming Heavenbreakers, but lack the Spiritual Roots that would let them absorb it conventionally. This makes transcendence depend on extraordinary willpower and sharply reduces how many cultivators can emerge. Later evidence reveals a protective purpose alongside that deprivation: the Supremes and ceiling warn inhabitants that advancement into the Fourth Realm allows a Dao to take the cultivator's body. (Chapters 795 and 835)

Mu De's warning

Celestial Worthy appears inside the True Blessed Land as Mu De, a haggard, injured beggar offering to read Fate for a single coin. He identifies Neo's interlocked Fates as Eternal Transcendent, Endless Hell, Seat of Virtue, and Mad God, with Cruelty as a temporary addition. He explains only the meanings Neo can already recognize, connecting endless growth to an endless sequence of ordeals, and refuses Neo's offer to join his sect. (Chapter 809)

After giving his true title, Celestial Worthy vanishes. Neo can find no residual pressure, warped causality, or memory of Mu De; bystanders sincerely remember Neo speaking to empty air. Elizabeth, however, sees the meeting through a Technique Spirit and retains it. She understands the reading as a warning that Neo's pursuit of strength may perpetuate his suffering and eventually drive him mad. (Chapters 810 and 812)

Elizabeth shares the warning with Morrigan and Persephone, then works to make Neo content with his reunited family before his next victory sends him searching for another summit. Celestial Worthy does not command Neo to stop, alter his mind, or conceal the available choice from him. His intervention makes the cost intelligible while leaving Neo free to continue, a restraint later shared by Cole when Neo is asked to confront the Dao Emperors. (Chapters 812, 816–817, and 835)

The last survivor of the True World

Beyond the Elemental Cosmos, Celestial Worthy is revealed as the only person Cole spared during his loss of sanity. Cole later helps him reach the peak of the Third Realm so that they can find a way to kill the Daos. Both have lost their parents to Dao, giving their project a personal origin as well as a cosmic purpose. Cole seals Celestial Worthy's Path before the Fourth Realm can let a Dao possess him. (Chapter 835)

Survival leaves Celestial Worthy in a precarious state. His native world has almost no Qi, and what remains has become malevolent through death and despair. Heart Demons attack him constantly, forcing him to keep most of his consciousness in meditation or risk insanity and death. His older body resembles Mu De but appears far more fragile, turning the remote Creator God into a visibly exhausted survivor of the system he tried to contain. (Chapter 835)

Celestial Worthy still supports the plan against the Dao Emperors. The clues placed through the True Blessed Land prepare Neo to understand the danger, the Fate reading offers him a chance to refuse, and Celestial Worthy accepts the unconscious Jack for transport back to the Elemental Cosmos. He and Cole do not force Neo's answer; when Neo chooses responsibility over retreat, Celestial Worthy calls him wiser than both of them. (Chapters 834–836)

Appearance and personality

As Mu De, Celestial Worthy appears to be an injured, filthy beggar with torn clothes, matted hair, and a badly twisted leg. His true body is an old man whose face resembles that disguise, though age and exhaustion have made him haggard and fragile. He sits cross-legged with his eyes closed because much of his attention is devoted to surviving the Heart Demons attacking within his consciousness. (Chapters 809 and 835)

He is indirect, patient, and deeply cautious about coercion. Rather than announce himself as Creator and demand obedience, he uses an absurdly cheap fortune reading to tell Neo only what Neo can understand. He removes almost every trace of the meeting but deliberately permits its warning to survive through Neo and Elizabeth. His restraint is not passivity: he constructs worlds, pursues a solution to Dao possession, and accepts a long self-imposed ceiling to preserve his agency. (Chapters 809–810 and 835)

Powers and limitations

Cosmos and True Blessed Land creation

Celestial Worthy created the Elemental Cosmos and the True Blessed Land, a training world patterned after his native True World. Their rules encompass energy generation, cultivation barriers, simulated populations, planetary and universal systems, and warnings encoded in the path of advancement. These creations display authority on a cosmic scale, but the novel does not convert the feat into a separate numbered rank beyond his explicitly stated peak Third Realm. (Chapters 791, 795, 799, and 835)

Fate perception and concealment

In the Mu De guise, he reads a kind of Fate that Neo cannot properly pronounce or analyze even while burning his Life Flame. He identifies several simultaneous destinies, distinguishes a temporary Fate, and explains how choices and karma shape them. Afterward he disappears without detectable residue and rewrites bystanders' memories so completely that they remember an empty space. Neo and Elizabeth remain exceptions, apparently because the warning is meant for them. (Chapters 809–810)

Peak Third Realm cultivation

Cole explicitly helps Celestial Worthy reach the peak of the Third Realm. His Path is then sealed with Cole's Intent so he cannot advance into the Fourth Realm and be taken over by Dao. The seal is protective but also fixes a hard ceiling on his growth. Apollyon later surpasses Celestial Worthy, and Neo eventually exceeds him as well, confirming that Creator status does not make him limitless. (Chapters 831, 834–835)

Heart Demons and depleted Qi

Celestial Worthy's greatest current weakness is environmental and mental. His ruined world offers almost no usable Qi, while the remaining energy has become malevolent. Heart Demons born from impure thoughts attack without pause, and he says that stopping meditation would make him lose his mind and die. He omits Heart Demons from the True Blessed Land because their appearance there could affect him too. (Chapter 835)

Celestial Worthy creates the Cosmos in which Neo rises, then tests whether Neo can become the successor capable of confronting the True World's Daos. His clues and Fate reading warn Neo about endless growth without removing the choice to continue. Neo ultimately surpasses his creator's strength and accepts responsibility for the lives shaped by the broken progression system. (Chapters 791–795, 809–810, and 834–836)

Cole

Cole nearly kills Celestial Worthy during a rampage but regains sanity in time to spare him. He helps Celestial Worthy reach peak Third Realm, seals his Path against possession, and collaborates with him on a plan to kill the Dao Emperors before their enduring Daos form. Their shared grief over parents lost to Dao turns former attacker and survivor into long-term allies. (Chapter 835)

Elizabeth

Elizabeth sees the disguised meeting when nearly everyone else is prevented from retaining it. She interprets Celestial Worthy's words as a genuine warning and uses them to reconsider how Neo might escape an endless cycle of battle. Although they do not hold a conventional conversation, her ability to preserve and act on his message is essential to its purpose. (Chapters 810 and 812–817)
