Hourglass of Eternity

The Hourglass of Eternity is a God-ranked artifact permanently bound to Yu IlHan. It creates a closed barrier in which time passes while effectively no time elapses outside.

History

Reward of frozen time

Erta gives Yu IlHan the small hourglass as a reward after the Dungeon Wave. Its original specification permits one activation per month, encloses a surrounding area for up to two months by Yu IlHan’s perception, excludes anyone he does not authorize, and possesses infinite durability. (Chapter 76)

Yu IlHan immediately uses the artifact for training and crafting. As his level and magic-engineering knowledge rise, its delay decreases and its barrier grows, eventually enclosing his mansion grounds while he completes the Flying Fortress. The hourglass physically shatters when that two-month use ends, but later uses show that the artifact itself remains available after its cooldown. (Chapters 122, 182, and 192–196)

War preparation across worlds

The artifact later covers a vast forest, the Flying Fortress, and Dareu’s allied forces, giving Yu IlHan two private months to rest his army and rebuild its equipment. Repeated uses provide years of training while almost no outside time passes, though every activation is followed by a cooldown. (Chapters 231–236, 274–284)

Barrier around Earth

After becoming Dragon’s Nest’s leader, Yu IlHan expands the Hourglass barrier over all Earth. The world spends an extended era preparing inside while only an instant will pass outside. Long after the war, he keeps the Hourglass with him because its exceptional power makes personal custody the safest choice. (Chapters 336–340; Extra Chapter 4)
