Makdalli

Makdalli is an undead-world dragon commander whose effort to conquer the south drives Randalph's rise in the Underground World. His obstinacy, strong lieutenants, and 100,000 troops initially overwhelm the southern forces, but his refusal to accept Randalph's claim to the Hell Monarch's authority leaves him exposed to the Emperor's Sword and phantom cavalry.

Biography

The commander who tried to seize the south

Makdalli advances from the central region because the Underground World's commanders have spent ages fighting over the sole right to open the Hell Monarch's treasure trove. Known as “Obstinate Makdalli,” he commands 100,000 troops and uses repeated raids to seize southern territory while limiting his own losses. His subordinate Somullem takes Pabrum under orders, but Randalph defeats him and becomes its new lord. Randalph then helps Oswen remove Makdalli's fourth through seventh lieutenants, turning a campaign of steady encroachment into a direct struggle for control of the south. (Chapters 131–136)

Makdalli reveals spies within the southern command and launches a decisive attack that destroys Oswen's fortress. In dragon form he dissolves soldiers with his breath and grievously injures Oswen, losing his left wing but retaining enough mobility to pursue the retreat. Randalph later awakens 2,000 phantom cavalry with the Hell Monarch's relics, rallies the remaining southern forces, and repeatedly defeats Makdalli's army. Makdalli still refuses to recognize him, imagining himself the future Hell Monarch until fear finally replaces pride. Randalph punishes him with the relic-backed army, and Makdalli returns to the earth, ending the southern war. (Chapters 136–139)

Appearance and personality

Makdalli is a dragon capable of flight; no colour, size, humanoid form, or finer physical detail is established. Oswen severs his left wing during their battle. His nickname and decisions define him as obstinate, vicious, proud, and willing to do anything for his objective. Even after Randalph displays the Heart of the Hell Monarch, Emperor's Sword, and phantom cavalry, Makdalli refuses acknowledgment because he already imagines himself in the emperor's place. Abilities and powers

Makdalli demonstrates flight, great mobility even after losing one wing, and a breath attack that dissolves ordinary troops and melts Oswen's undead body. The blow carries power comparable to a lich's magic and remains dangerous enough that Randalph must shield Oswen while already exhausted. No named dragon skill, activation condition, cooldown, or exact rank is provided. Severing a wing reduces Makdalli's condition and contributes to his later defeat but does not immediately ground him. His other strength is military. He commands 100,000 troops, fields ranked lieutenants including Somullem and Charung, plants spies, uses repeated raids to conserve forces, and destroys the southern fortress during a surprise offensive. That system fails when Randalph kills his senior subordinates, awakens troops loyal only to the Hell Monarch, and turns Makdalli's fear and refusal to recognize legitimate relics into a strategic disadvantage. Relationships

• Randalph Brigsiel: Randalph rises by defeating Makdalli's lieutenants, then uses the Hell Monarch's relics and phantom cavalry to eliminate the commander.
• Oswen: Makdalli's principal southern rival. Their direct battle costs Makdalli a wing and Oswen two arms, while Makdalli's army destroys Oswen's fortress.
• Torium: Torium warns Randalph about Makdalli, helps prepare resistance, and joins the rear guard during the retreat from his offensive.
• Maxium: Makdalli's followers consider Maxium the only commander who might rival him, although the two do not directly fight in the cited evidence.
