Jellim

Jellim is a tree native to the Underground World, not a demonstrated sentient character. Its branches are eaten directly or made into porridge, preserve undead bodies, and accelerate Randalph Brigsiel's recovery after Corruption leaves him severely weakened. The resource remains in active use through the Underground World campaign, including by soldiers and settlements with cultivated rows of Jellim trees. (Chapters 130–138)

Biography

A resource sustaining the Underground World

When Randalph arrives with depleted magic and nearly dead muscles, Torium and Jeff spend precious Jellim branches to feed him. The food rejuvenates his body, improves resilience, and restores magic quickly enough for him to resume skills and sword training, making it materially important to his return. The same branches function as food, trade payment, and body preservative throughout undead society: storytellers earn them, mercenaries demand them, parties serve them, Oswen suffers withdrawal-like collapse without them, and fortified settlements cultivate entire rows of Jellim trees. Appearance and personality

The corpus identifies Jellim as a tree whose branches can be cooked into porridge and shows orderly rows of the trees in an undead settlement. It does not describe leaf color, bark, flowers, fruit, size, or other distinguishing physical details. Jellim acts as a preservative that increases the “shelf life” of a rotting undead body, and undead require it to maintain themselves in the Underground World. Scarcity and cultivation
