The Nemes of Pestilence
The Nemes of Pestilence is enchanted pet headgear worn by Mongo. Its two properties combine a tightly limited emergency transformation with a persistent disease effect on his bites.
History
Faction Wars reward
The blue-and-gold pharaonic headpiece appears among Donut’s post–Faction Wars rewards. Although Carl considers transferring powerful properties from other headgear, Mordecai establishes that the nemes is a pet accessory and cannot be drained like compatible crawler equipment. Donut refuses any suggestion that Mongo’s prize should be sacrificed. (Chapter 402)
The party keeps the nemes on Mongo into the eleventh-floor operation even after Donut’s Gurkha class provides new clothing and accessories for pets and mercenaries. That choice makes it part of his latest confirmed loadout rather than a reward immediately displaced by newer equipment. (Chapter 486)
Cruel Sepsis in combat
Mongo demonstrates Bringer of Death while fighting mimics in the casino. His bites leave enemies with Cruel Sepsis, causing them to wither and die in visible pain. The scene confirms that the listed chance-based effect works against late-floor opponents, but it does not establish universal immunity rules or guarantee that every successful bite will apply it. (Chapter 481)
Abilities and properties
- The nemes can be equipped only by an eligible pet. (Chapter 402)
- Eternal Protector of Rage triggers when Mongo is within three meters of Donut and her health falls below ten percent, making him invulnerable and doubling his strength for sixty seconds. (Chapter 402)
- Eternal Protector of Rage can trigger only once per day. It protects Mongo and creates a counterattack window; it does not heal Donut or prevent her from dying. (Chapter 402)
- Bringer of Death gives Mongo’s bites a seventy-five-percent chance to inflict the Cruel Sepsis debuff. (Chapter 402)
- Cruel Sepsis is shown rapidly withering and killing casino mimics. Its complete duration and resistance interactions are not stated. (Chapter 481)
