Enchanted Mongoliensis Saddle
The Enchanted Mongoliensis Saddle is the signature mount equipment shared by Mongo and Donut. It turns Mongo into a system-recognized mount, strengthens both rider and pet, and eventually accepts a cart without burdening him.
History
Fan-box prize
Donut receives the bright blue-and-red saddle from a Platinum fan box shortly after Mongo reaches level 15. The item is explicitly adjusted to fit a cat rider and magically affixes to the Mongoliensis without straps or reins. Mongo initially bucks, rolls, and tries to dislodge it, while Donut must practice mounting and jumping free rather than assuming the enchantment makes riding safe. (Chapters 81–84)
Once Mongo accepts the arrangement, the saddle becomes the center of their combined fighting style. Donut rides him through towns and battles, benefiting from his speed while directing his attacks and casting from his back. This improves their mobility but also exposes her as a conspicuous target, and the magical waist restraint can still release her when Mongo bucks hard enough. (Chapters 84, 155, 169, and 274)
Legendary Steed upgrade
On the eleventh floor, Donut receives an upgrade called Legendary Steed. It allows a cart to be attached to Mongo without adding effective weight and without removing his ability to jump. The change expands the saddle from a rider interface into a transport platform suited to the larger operation against Scolopendra, although the corpus ends before that cart configuration is shown in sustained use. Abilities and properties
- The saddle magically affixes to Mongo and formally turns him into a mount for its cat-sized rider. (Chapter 81)
- While mounted, Donut receives a fifteen-percent bonus to offensive spell damage and Anti-Piercing Resistance. (Chapter 81)
- Mongo gains twenty percent Constitution whenever the saddle is equipped and twenty percent melee damage while the saddle is occupied. (Chapter 81)
- A translucent restraint holds Donut in place, but it is not absolute; hard bucking can throw her, and riding places her directly in danger. (Chapter 84)
- Clockwork duplicates of Mongo reproduce the saddle, allowing their tactical use to parallel the original mount for the duration of the spell. (Chapter 84)
- Legendary Steed adds a cart whose load does not weigh Mongo down and does not prevent him from jumping. (Chapter 485)
