Paz

Paz Lo is a Santero crawler whose party is drawn into the eighth floor's divine conflict and whose final act kills the goddess Ysalte at the cost of his own crawler life.

Biography

The Eighth Floor and Bedlam

Paz enters the floor at level 45 with his cousin Anton and Sister Ines, visibly frightened but committed to protecting the damaged party. His worship of Ogun gives him a divine marker and draws him toward the gods embedded in the card scenario. After Ines stabs him and the party disintegrates, Paz persists through the final confrontation and kills Ysalte, becoming the level-101 former-crawler totem “the God Predator.” Before his card is destroyed, he makes clear that release is what he wants; Katia and the others honor that wish by ripping the card rather than keeping his power. (Chapters 226–293)

The Parade of Horribles

Osvaldo later remembers Paz as a friend alongside Anton and Ines and blames Carl's orbit for the group's destruction. The accusation preserves Paz's emotional importance but supplies no evidence of resurrection after his card was ripped. (Chapter 435)

Appearance and personality

Paz is initially a frightened-looking human with a glowing palm-frond divine symbol above him. His Santero role and loyalty to his party place faith at the center of his decisions, while his request that the transformed card be destroyed shows a preference for death over continued use as a game piece. (Chapters 226–293)

Skills, class, and abilities

Paz begins as a level-45 Santero who worships Ogun. His build supports divine interaction and ultimately lets him kill a god, after which the system converts him into a level-101 “God Predator” former-crawler card. The exact attack sequence and class mechanics are not completely enumerated, and the level-101 card state is posthumous, temporary access rather than a living advancement. Destruction of the card ends its summonability. (Chapters 226–293)

Relationships

  • Anton: Paz and Anton are cousins and protective party companions; Anton's death leaves Paz increasingly isolated. (Chapters 226–273)
  • Sister Ines: Paz protects her until her breakdown turns violent and she stabs him with the team flag. (Chapters 226–273)
  • Osvaldo: Osvaldo remembers Paz as a friend and continues grieving him on the tenth floor. (Chapter 435)

Items

No generated item article is assigned to Paz. His totem card is deliberately ripped after his death, ending its custody and combat use. (Chapter 293)
