Grigori

Grigori is a fleshmancer recruited for a tenth-floor rescue because he knows the ritual required to recombine Corky's separated halves.

Biography

The Parade of Horribles

Grigori joins the plan to rescue Corky from a factory, explaining that the ritual is manageable if both halves consent and remain alive while being physically reunited. The coalition therefore treats him as the necessary specialist rather than a front-line fighter, protecting and transporting him through a heat that kills most competing teams. He survives, awakens in disbelief after the battle, and later falls under direct AI control during the final spectacle. At the endpoint the AI releases him, leaving him confused and walking back toward the crawlers' garage while Orren is asked to obtain a diagnosis. (Chapters 454–496)

Appearance and personality

The corpus identifies Grigori by profession more clearly than by anatomy and does not provide a stable detailed portrait. He is cautious about ritual conditions, stunned by survival, and disoriented after the AI relinquishes control. These reactions show an NPC capable of independent fear and judgment when not being puppeted. (Chapters 454, 462, and 496)

Skills, class, and abilities

Grigori is a fleshmancer who can perform a consensual recombination ceremony on two living halves of a divided being. The process requires both participants to be willing, removed from containment suits, kept alive, and physically pressed together; it is not instant battlefield healing. His knowledge is specialized, while direct AI control can override his agency and movement. The latest scene confirms freedom from that control but not whether he retains safe access to the ritual after floor collapse. (Chapters 454–464 and 496)
