Doctor Bones
Doctor Bones is the skeletal announcer and DJ of the Penis Parade, converted into one of Carl's mercenaries. A Level 90 Skin Skellie Bard, he specializes in battlefield control, conscription, and disease-based mass conversion rather than direct melee combat. (Chapters 273–419)
Biography
The Eighth Floor and Bedlam
Doctor Bones trains in the Mercenary Arcade after joining the rescued club workers. He explains that bards commonly serve patrons in exchange for supplies and performances, while his own battlefield value comes from temporary control spells. Carl infects him with Super Spreader; Bones then transmits it to multiple targets at once, modifies the resulting slugs' hostility, and uses Conscript to turn survivors toward the allied infantry. (Chapters 273, 282)
Faction Wars at Larracos
On the ninth floor Bones defends the castle entrance beside Splash Zone and the strippers, using pop-up magical screens against pulse rifles and helping defeat invisible mercenaries. He travels with the mobile group, retains maps and club knowledge, and openly anticipates full magic returning. His role develops from entertainment staff to controller and tactical support within the alliance's field force. (Chapters 331, 384)
The Parade of Horribles
Doctor Bones remains integrated into guild life, playing games with Samantha, Splash Zone, and sluggalos between crises. The scene confirms survival and continued social membership but shows no new formal class or spell upgrade by the endpoint. (Chapter 419)
Appearance and personality
Doctor Bones is a talking skeletal creature classified as a Skin Skellie, usually in an exposed skeleton form. His deep, rumbling voice fits his former work as announcer and DJ. He is theatrical, profane, sociable, and professionally proud of his bard techniques, able to shift from club banter to serious battlefield analysis. (Chapters 273, 331, 384, 419)
Skills, class, and abilities
Conscript and Minion Army
Conscript converts targets into temporary allied minions one by one, while Minion Army is a larger battlefield-sabotage spell with a long casting time and temporary duration. Conscription does not change attitude completely: recruits can rebel and stronger ones may have to be killed. The spells provide numbers rather than loyal, permanent followers and work best when allies contain the resulting disorder. (Chapters 273, 282)
Super Spreader and slug control
Bones has a stronger version of Carl's Super Spreader, infecting multiple people at once rather than one target per hour. He can also cast a follow-up effect that makes emerging slugs less hostile, then conscript them. This combination creates infantry rapidly but fills the area with blood and unpredictable creatures; “less hostile” is not the same as safe or obedient. (Chapter 282)
Defensive and bard support
He participates in casting or maintaining fan-shaped magical screens that have no time limit but can be depleted by damage and work especially well against technology. He also contributes crowd control against invisible attackers. The exact attribution of each shared shield is not always stated, so the scene supports defensive participation rather than sole ownership of every barrier spell. (Chapter 331)
Relationships
- Carl: Carl's infection gives Bones access to the sluggalo-creation strategy, while the mercenary arrangement limits where Bones can travel independently. (Chapters 273–282)
- Splash Zone: They train, defend the castle, travel, and socialize together as former Penis Parade staff. (Chapters 331, 384, 419)
- The sluggalos: Bones creates, pacifies, and conscripts many of them, becoming a controller whose authority remains imperfect. (Chapters 282, 331, 419)
Items
No personal item link is assigned to Doctor Bones in the current manifest. His maps, DJ role, and defensive setup do not produce a named personal artifact or custody history in the supplied corpus. (Chapters 273–419)
