Flowing Gold Blade

The Flowing Gold Blade is the transformed state of the legendary Lightless Ring, later called the Lightless Sword or Lightless Blade. These names describe successive configurations of one Origin Tool: an Arcana-amplifying ring is permanently combined with a metal-control technique, then strengthened through absorbed metals until it acquires spatial properties.

History

Recovery of the Lightless Ring

Patelocke identifies the Lightless Ring as a legendary weapon once wielded by an exceptional ancient combat puppet and especially compatible with Arcana Techniques. In the Origin Beast ruins, he reveals that the plain ring was hidden inside Sbasse’s throne with materials intended for a replacement body. The barrier surrounding the cache preserved it, allowing Su Chen to take and study it. (Chapters 779 and 796–797)

In its original form, the ring has an exceptional affinity for directing Origin Energy. It greatly amplifies Su Chen’s Ancient Arcana Techniques; combined with Energy Well, it roughly doubles the might of his Flaming Phoenix Theurgy Art. (Chapters 797–798)

Formation of the Flowing Gold Blade

After obtaining a metal-type Demonic Emperor Origin Crystal, Su Chen and Patelocke modify the ring and permanently imbue it with the Flowing Gold Blade Arcana Technique. The ring develops a central sword blade, a circular guard, and an embedded crystal. When activated, metal expands from its incomplete-looking body into a greatsword covered in fire. This transformation preserves the original tool while adding a voracious capacity to absorb and shape metal. (Chapters 806, 833, 841, and 985–986)

The weapon proves strong enough to reach Eighth-Ring power and, when reinforced by the Primordial Blood Incarnation, Ninth-Ring power. Repeated battles consume its metal body and cause it to shrink, forcing Su Chen to replenish it. Against creatures with metallic bones, however, that appetite becomes decisive: wounds let the sword draw out their metal and collapse their bodies. (Chapters 833–841)

Spatial transformation

The weapon later absorbs Void Starmetal from several Sovereign remains. After enough material is incorporated, the Lightless Sword becomes partly corporeal and partly illusory, slipping between reality and another plane. Su Chen names its spatial attack Dimensional Slash. This is a further development of the same Flowing Gold weapon, not a separate item. (Chapters 985–986)

Abilities and properties

  • Arcana amplification: The original Lightless Ring directs Origin Energy with exceptional efficiency and magnifies Ancient Arcana Techniques. Its benefit applies to spell-like techniques rather than ordinary weapon skills. (Chapters 797–798)
  • Metal absorption and growth: The embedded metal-type Demonic Emperor Origin Crystal and Flowing Gold Blade technique let the weapon sense, extract, and incorporate metal. Absorption enlarges and strengthens its body and can drain metal from wounded targets. (Chapters 840–841 and 985)
  • High-tier attack output: The transformed blade normally reaches Eighth-Ring power and can reach Ninth-Ring strength with the Primordial Blood Incarnation. It can also carry Su Chen’s black flames. (Chapters 833–839 and 859)
  • Consumption cost: Maintaining the Flowing Gold form costs Origin Energy and metal. Each battle wears away part of the blade, reducing its size and eventually its power tier unless it is fed more material. (Chapter 839)
  • Spatial fluctuation: Absorbed Void Starmetal makes the sword intermittently disappear and reappear, rendering its trajectory difficult to predict. Dimensional Slash can repeatedly apply that spatial force. (Chapter 986)
  • Disruption and defense: The spatially transformed blade can break down Origin Skills or Arcana Techniques on contact and divert part of an attack into an illusory space, reducing the force that reaches the wielder. (Chapter 986)
