Amethyst Battle Armor

The Amethyst Battle Armor is a damaged suit of Origin armor given to Su Chen by the Immortal Temple. Its amethyst construction provides physical protection and can generate an Origin Energy barrier, but damage to the front leaves the barrier effective only against attacks from behind.

History

A defective Immortal Temple tool

The Immortal Temple supplies the armor as part of a collection of damaged or unreliable equipment for Su Chen’s trip into the Scarlet Mountain Range. Its handler openly identifies the suit as defective: the material remains strong, but the frontal barrier has failed. Su Chen accepts the limitation and adds the armor to his field equipment. (Chapter 33)

Protection in the mountains

The armor’s rearward barrier protects Su Chen during his first encounter with a Rainbow Tiger, blocking attacks from its tails. Its damaged front is exposed during the fight with an Arcana remnant: an Origin Energy bullet hits his chest and causes intense pain, although the suit’s physical material still reduces the injury. (Chapters 48 and 61)

Su Chen continues to use it alongside the Moon-Swallowing Heavenly Wolf Blade and Cloud-Stepping Battle Boots. Against a Giant Adamantine Ape, the barrier and material each absorb part of a heavy strike, but a later sweep shatters the armor’s barrier together with several other defensive layers. This is the latest explicit use; the corpus does not say whether the suit was repaired, discarded, or destroyed afterward. (Chapter 201)

Abilities and properties

  • Origin Energy barrier: Activation forms a protective barrier, but the damaged frontal section means that this energy defense works only against attacks from behind. (Chapter 33)
  • Amethyst shell: The armor itself is forged from strong amethyst material and continues to provide physical protection even when the barrier is absent or broken. (Chapters 33, 61, and 201)
  • Layered mitigation: Su Chen can combine the suit with movement and other barriers. Against the Giant Adamantine Ape, retreat, the armor’s barrier, and its physical shell each absorb a portion of one strike. (Chapter 201)
  • Finite durability: Powerful attacks can shatter its barrier, and a direct frontal hit bypasses the suit’s primary energy defense. The corpus does not establish automatic repair or full-body coverage after its initial damage. (Chapters 61 and 201)
