Zhong Ding

Zhong Ding is an elite Hidden Dragon Institute candidate known by the epithet “Blood Demon.” His Bloodriver Demon bloodline makes him one of the Three Mountains Region exam’s strongest competitors, but his habit of bullying weaker students draws him into a fatal confrontation with Cloud Leopard in the Goldwater Ruins. Biography

Blood Demon of the entrance examination

Before Zhong Ding appears directly, observers already treat him as one of four candidates certain to place near the top of the Three Mountains Region examination. When he encounters Su Chen, Wang Doushan, Jin Ling’er, and a controlled candidate, his blood-sucking and clone abilities let him contest all four at once. Su Chen denies him blood contact and forces him to spend energy without replenishment, prompting Zhong to retreat rather than be worn down. He escapes cleanly and ultimately places second behind Ji Hanyan, confirming that the defeat did not remove him from the examination’s elite. (Chapters 119 and 141–150)

Harassment and the Clay Giant

As a Hidden Dragon Institute student, Zhong Ding joins Zhang Sheng’an’s group in the Goldwater Ruins. When that group seizes a Giant Adamantine Ape from Team Bright, Zhong realizes that Su Chen is absent and deliberately delays the others from going to his aid, not for a strategic reward but because he enjoys watching them suffer humiliation. Later, while fleeing a Clay Giant, the group tries to restrain Team Bright and leave the bloodline-less students as decoys. Zhong follows Zhang Sheng’an’s lead, turning an earlier act of petty cruelty into direct participation in a potentially lethal betrayal. (Chapters 203–204 and 214–215)

Cloud Leopard selects Zhong as his opponent when Team Bright fights back. Zhong expands from one clone to three and uses rapid exchanges, penetrating hands, poisonous needles, and clone-swapping to create a numerical and positional advantage. Cloud Leopard accepts wounds, focuses relentlessly on Zhong’s true body, and predicts each attempted swap through instinct. Zhong realizes too late that multiplying attackers cannot deter someone willing to ignore them; Cloud Leopard ruptures his organs and crushes his head, while Su Chen later accepts responsibility for the circumstances that produced his death. Appearance and personality

The corpus gives no fixed description of Zhong Ding’s face, build, age, clothing, or ordinary appearance. His most distinctive visual traits arise during combat, when his cut blood congeals into red humanoid clones. (Chapters 147 and 215–217)

Zhong is proud of his bloodline, contemptuous of students without one, and willing to use power for amusement as well as survival. He retreats rationally when Su Chen finds the weakness in his exam tactics, but in the ruins he becomes increasingly angry and frightened when Cloud Leopard refuses to fight as expected. A woman later recounts rumors that Zhong and Zhang Sheng’an abused women, sometimes fatally; the corpus shows that she believes the report but does not directly dramatize or independently prove those alleged acts. (Chapters 147, 203, 217, and 225)

Abilities and cultivation

Zhong Ding inherits the Bloodriver Demon bloodline through the Zhong Clan, one of three clans rewarded with that lineage after the Illustrious Divine Dynasty destroyed several Bloodriver Demons. The source beast is a lord-class Demonic Beast. The text does not state Zhong’s exact realm, when he awakened the bloodline, or his later formal cultivation method. (Chapter 147)

Blood absorption and recovery

Zhong can drain blood from opponents to restore both physical strength and Origin Energy. This recovery lets him sustain an aggressive multi-body style when he can wound and feed from enemies. Su Chen counters it during the examination by avoiding direct exchanges, preventing Zhong from replenishing the energy consumed by his clones. The technique’s activation distance, rate, target restrictions, and effect on a drained victim are not otherwise quantified. No later upgrade is recorded. (Chapter 147)

Blood Clones and transposition

By cutting his own wrist, Zhong releases blood that congeals into genuine combat-capable clones rather than illusions. They can punch, kick, form Blood Demon Needles, and coordinate around a target while Zhong swaps his true body with any clone. A swap consumes some of the destination clone’s energy, so he avoids using it casually. During the entrance exam he creates three clones; by the ruins he is capable of four, although producing too many injures him and their continuing energy demand becomes a burden if he cannot absorb blood. The clones differ visibly from the true body and therefore do not conceal his identity by appearance alone. Their positional advantage also has a practical counter: Cloud Leopard ignores their damage, tracks where the true body will emerge, and kills Zhong before the remaining clones can force him away. Zhong’s death is the latest state of the ability, and the corpus records no surviving independent clone. (Chapter 217)

Black Fiend Hands and Blood Demon Needles

Black Fiend Hands is a close-range Origin Skill with strong penetrative force, used through Zhong and his clones during rapid melee exchanges. Blood Demon Needles are formed from blood and can be fired at range; the ruin battle explicitly describes them as poisonous. Neither technique’s acquisition, poison mechanism, duration, antidote, maximum range, or independent energy cost is explained. Their representative uses injure Cloud Leopard but cannot stop his wound-fueled advance or compensate for Zhong’s exposed true body. (Chapters 147 and 215–217)

Relationships

• Cloud Leopard: Zhong’s harassment of Team Bright helps create their conflict. In the ruins, Cloud Leopard defeats his clone tactics by attacking only the true body and kills him. (Chapters 203–217)
• Zhang Sheng’an: Zhong travels with Zhang’s group, supports the seizure of Team Bright’s prey, and follows the attempt to use the students as decoys for the Clay Giant. (Chapters 203–215)
• Jin Ling’er: Jin first helps Su Chen force Zhong out of the entrance-exam battle, then later travels in the same ruins party. Her attempts to restrain Zhang’s abuses do not stop Zhong from participating. (Chapters 147 and 203–215)
• Su Chen: Su Chen identifies the recovery-dependent weakness in Zhong’s fighting style during the exam. In the ruins, his group’s counterattack creates the individual battle in which Zhong dies. (Chapters 147, 203–217, and 256)
