Zheng Kuang, called Sword Rhinoceros, was a powerful Hidden Dragon Institute student distinguished by his Sword Rhinoceros bloodline and Overlord Spear. Biography

Team Soaring and the duel with Wang Doushan

Zheng Kuang enters the Three Mountains examination with a reputation for overwhelming spear strength and seriously wounds Wang Doushan after Wang has already fought other experts. At the Institute he joins Team Soaring, supports its bloodline hierarchy, and discourages Jin Ling'er from associating too closely with commoner students. When Zhang Sheng'an draws the Clay Giant toward Team Bright, Zheng helps attack the bloodline-less group and is badly injured by their massed Thunderfire Balls, yet survives through his powerful physique. (Chapters 119–215)

During the final fighting around the Clay Giant, Zheng faces Wang again and initially controls the duel. His spear breaks Wang's defenses and his Battle Rhinoceros Body absorbs repeated counterattacks. Zheng fails to notice that Wang's Snow Thread has entered through numerous small wounds during their exchanges. When Wang recalls the threads, they divide Zheng's body into pieces and kill him. His family and allied clans later use his death as part of their grievance against Su's group, though Su does not personally fight him. (Chapters 218–241)

Appearance and personality

Zheng is a brawny, dark-skinned man with a buzz cut, copper-bell-sized eyes, and intricate patterns inked along the right side of his face. He wears a dark cloak over a black riding outfit with a gilded Buddha, knee-high tiger-skin boots, and carries the Overlord Spear. (Chapter 204)

He is proud, direct, class-conscious, and combat-loving. His confidence rests on genuine offensive and defensive superiority, but he dismisses subtler opponents and rarely questions what he cannot immediately see. Wang's assessment is explicit: Zheng has great strength but does not use his head in battle, allowing a concealed tool to defeat defenses that force could not penetrate. (Chapters 119–218)

Abilities and cultivation

Zheng's formal cultivation realm is not stated. His Sword Rhinoceros bloodline produces a rhinoceros image, enhances linear charges, and supports the Battle Rhinoceros Body, whose golden luster gives exceptional physical defense. The body survives massed Thunderfire explosions and lets him ignore attacks that shatter an auxiliary azure barrier. It is powerful but not impermeable to thin effects introduced gradually through existing wounds. (Chapters 132–218)

With the Overlord Spear, Zheng uses the clan's Annihilation Spear and rhinoceros-backed charges to create tremendous momentum, topple obstacles, break barriers, and mangle Wang's arm. His straight-line acceleration is excellent, but his turning ability in confined space is limited. No sensory art, healing technique, consciousness defense, bloodline progression, or answer to Wang's dispersed Snow Thread is demonstrated. (Chapters 132 and 218–228)

Relationships

  • Wang Doushan: Zheng wounds him during the entrance examination and later tries to finish their grudge. Wang loses the direct contest of strength but kills him through the concealed Snow Thread. (Chapters 132–133 and 218)
  • Jin Ling'er: Zheng argues that bloodline nobility should keep commoner associates at a distance. His view helps define Team Soaring's social hostility. (Chapter 204)
  • Guan Shanying: Both are bloodline students in Team Soaring and participate in the attempts to bring down Team Bright during the Clay Giant crisis. (Chapters 204–218)
