Ulrich

Ulrich is an Ancient Arcana researcher whose failed Bloodline Ancestral Medicine becomes an important foundation for Su Chen’s later bloodline research. After surviving in altered Astral form, he serves as an in-office elder but enters the final Astral war with strength below his office. (Chapters 62–106 and 1011–1020)

Biography

Research, defeat, and an unintended inheritance

Ulrich confronts Su Chen and Iron Cliff with a magic staff, fire, stacked barriers, and Soul Eye, but is defeated and leaves behind research on bloodline reversion. His medicine requires roughly three hundred doses and produces destructive mental and physical regression rather than the perfected ancestral state he intended. Su Chen nevertheless recognizes that the underlying direction works, inherits Ulrich’s Arcana knowledge, and develops it through later experiments. Ulrich’s failure therefore becomes productive only after another researcher separates its valid mechanism from its catastrophic implementation. (Chapters 62, 85, 106, 174, 187, and 453)

Astral elder and retreat

Much later, Ulrich—spelled Ulric in these scenes—is an in-office Astral elder summoned by the Death’s Mourn Bell. He is still recovering consciousness power and knows his ceremonial status exceeds his current strength. When Gu Qingluo’s arrival makes defeat inevitable, he withdraws with Yanto rather than sacrifice himself, joining roughly three thousand Astral survivors. His destination and condition after Chapter 1020 are unknown. (Chapters 1011–1020)

Appearance and personality

Ulrich is proud, murderous when challenged, and obsessively ambitious in research. His ancestral medicine seeks the pinnacle of bloodline power, but he fails to recognize its partial success and severe dosage problem. As an Astral elder he is calmer and pragmatic enough to retreat from a lost war. The corpus gives only his early identity as an old man and supplies no stable later physical description. Abilities and cultivation

Meg’s Guardian can be layered, but each additional layer increases Origin Energy consumption additively, making extreme defense unsustainable. Soul Eye attacks consciousness and is effective against soul-type beings; his staff also produces fire. His medicine stimulates ancestral reversion only at enormous dosage and with unacceptable regression. The source does not state his ring, realm, recovery rate, or latest remaining techniques.
